I meant to post this the other day, and the post about giving our kitties baths just reminded me to.

DH is allergic to cats and therefore we'd been doing a lot to help his allergies. Like frequent brushing, using a waterless cat bath for allergy sufferers, using a big ionic air filter, keeping them out of the bedroom etc. DH also used to take both Singulair and Zyrtec.

Well a few months back the supply of allergy meds the military gave him ran out and being that they were expensive on the health insurance we had at the time he decided to try claratin, since thats what he took when living at home and his mom had a cat. He found a very cheap generic version of it and switched to that.

So the other day DH realized, the air filter has been off over a month, it's been much longer since their last 'bath', and I've not given the girls a good brushing lately either....and his allergies have been pretty great! We still don't let the girls in our bedroom and he is taking the meds. And that seems to be working. When he first came home he'd sneeze and all with all of those things. I guess he's gotten some immunity or something? With the house being closed up since it's winter I'd think that would make their dander more likely to bother him? Either way I'm happy! And he is too!

I have heard that sometimes people will become accustomed to a cat they are living with, but will still suffer a reaction when visiting other cats. Maybe thats the case here? Either way, I'm glad its working out so well!

I hope so. My RB cat Tiger didn't bother him so much, but our other ones did. I sure hope he's getting some immunity or something!
