Has anyone else with Ashtma had flare ups lately? Normally- mine is controlled VERY well with my once a day singulair. But lately- my asthma has been going bonkers. (i think it acts up more when i'm stressed
) I just had another Ashtma attack tonight
Is anyone else having issues this time of year?

I haven't noticed my husband having more attacks than usual lately, of course it's a bit of a different climate here.

Have you been to the doctor lately to make sure everything it at the proper doses? Could you possibly be getting a cold? Or it could be pollutants in the air (dust, dander etc.), this time of year everyone's houses are closed up tight to keep the cold out.
Maybe check into something besides the singulair to help keep the inflammation down.

My asthma's worse in the Fall (moldy leaves) and the Spring (blooming everything), but I'm on Advair 250, and rarely ever have any attacks now. It's an inhaled powder and works as both a bronchodiolator and cortisteroid. My daughter's on Advair 100.

Have you heard of or tried Advair? It's excellent, but expensive (one month's worth is $100+ CDN here) but definitely worth it if you have prescription insurance.

I wonder what you are reacting to in the winter? Is something blooming there now, or did someone spray insecticides, maybe? I'm sorry to hear you are stressed.

Mine has been acting up lately too. I have to take a prescription allergy medication- Claritin, on top of the Singulair otherwise I get really wheezy. What drives me even more crazy is just how tired I am all the time. Even with my medication my lung capacity is only at 80%, which just zaps my energy.

Stress really can make asthma worse, as can laughing, cold air, mold, dust, etc.

I don't have asthma, but I have Cystic Fibrosis, and I also take the Advair 250, and it has made a world of difference with the irritation and shortness of breath I get from allergies and enviromental irritants. I also take Singulair (which has made a world of difference with my chronic sinus problems
), Xopenex (refined albuterol) and Chlortrimicon for allergies. I haven't noticed a difference in my problems lately- but I also have a cold, so I wouldn't
. I'd ask your dr. about something to get you through this spell.(My best friend's daughter has pulmicort and ups her albuterol when she gets flared up, and then she settles down to bare bones maintence again when she's leveled out. She hasn't had any problems lately
.)

Do ask your Dr.- it may just be time for a round of nebulizer treatment
. Hope you feel better soon!

My husband is on Advair 250 too, it's really help reduce the number of asthma attacks he has. He also takes singulair and allegra daily. I can't recall who it was on here that said they couldn't take advair so at the very least a suggestion to add an allegry medicine could help.
