But it's still annoying all the same!

Lately Puff has been taking it upon himself to jump up on my counters and help himself to whatever is up there. Which isn't much really. But it's getting annoying. I can't move fast enough to catch him because of my foot. And if I just yell at him he looks at me with those beady little eyes like yeah right what are you gonna do.

I've thought about a water bottle but they tried that when he was up at the pet store and attacking other cats. .It didn't bother him one bit. I guess I could try it again. But if it didn't bother him before then I have my doubts.

What else can I do?

Does he know the word "no" or the phrase "get down"?
My kitties respond to those commands when on countertops. But if you don't see them, well that's a whole other tale.

Good luck with Puff!

He knows No means I am dispeased with the behavior. He'll look at me when I say no.. It's just he won't stop the behavior because he knows I move slowly right now.. and by the time I get to where he was he's long gone.

Water pistol. Fill with water and a bit of lemon juice. Just make sure not to get him in the face (squirt when he's not facing you).

Aren't cats so intuitive? When I was sick, they took advantage because they KNEW I couldn't keep up. A gentle squirt may be the best idea, especially if right now you are slower moving then at the top of your game. But it could also be that they are taking advantage of your current condition. I was off work for 2 months - and sometimes mine would just push the envelope with where they'd go and what they would attempt to get into because they knew mommy didn't feel well and would let a lot of their antics go unpunished.

Do you have a can of coins you can shake and startly him? Or put things on the edge of the counter that wll fall off and make a lot of noise when he gets up there so you will know when he is and he will know you know he is there!

I've tried the can thing before and that didn't work. There's already lots of junk up there.

He knocked off my Christmas stuff I have stacked on the dogs cage last night. I yelled NO 3 times and started to get up and he took off. The 4th time I yelled no and he just looks at me then the box slips off. It had a lot of old bulbs in it so I hope nothings broke. Hopefully that scared him enough to stay off there. But I have my doubts.
