Either it is another publicity stunt, or she's really trying to break free from her typical "poster-on-every-horny-teenage-boys-wall" look.

I feel enormously sorry for her- she worked hard for the dream she had and it is at this point that she has had enough. There is no way I can blame her for walking out of rehab when she is under such media scrutiny and in a lot of ways I blame the media for her breakdown. If I'm honest then I'd say I don't care if she never records again but she at least deserves time with her children away from the media speculation and hope that she makes peace with her 'higher power' soon...

I also thought she looked quite cute with the shaved head

I'm not a fan of hers and I don't care what she does with herself but she's a mom now and should be thinking of her children and how her behaviour effects them.

This also makes me wonder....what was she in rehab that entire day for? How is her judgement being affected by that? Is she capable of making her own decisions...or have others made them for her too long?

I think it's all just a publicity stunt. I heard she's getting ready to launch a new cd. Probably just trying to get her name in the headlines again.

My perspective from age 60 and little watching or reading of stars probably differs from many of you. From the snippets I've seen of an interview where she was chewing gum and various other video, she looks to me to be unsure of herself and overall very unsophisticated. Not just the gum, just all of her including her speaking manner and choice of words. In spite of success, she is dealing with all the uncertainties of "average" people in relationships and being a mother. It's all too easy to get caught up in things and in her case, I'm sure she has pressure from many areas of people wanting a piece of her.

As for the bald head, it's just hair. That reminds me of of Julia Roberts getting her hair all cut off back when. She was sick and tired of just being a face and pretty much shot Barbara Wawa down in interview.

Life is hard sometimes.

Oh poor Britney. The headlines about her now call her a "former pop star", and Newsweek used a picture of her as an example of the "Girls Gone Wild effect" (ie what is wrong with kids these days).

The head-shaving was something like a cry for help maybe. I have seen someone have a total breakdown and shave their head (who knows why) but they didn't do it in front of a camera... obviously she wanted us to see.

My thoughts exactly, although I'm 38.
It doesn't really matter who you are, no one is immune to hardships in life and everyone deals with things differently. I think she's hurting very deeply right now.

And being married to an addict/alcoholic myself, I thereby disagree with you...particularly the "she could get help if she wanted to" statement. If she is using (well, she was obviously partying hard and drinking for a time, according to the media), she needs to hit her version of a bottom before she is ready to really take treatment seriously. Everyone's "bottom" is different. I can't tell you how many times my husband has left treatment early, only to use again that same day. And having "everything a young girl could want" really also has nothing to do with it...the disease of addiction really does not discriminate. Rich, poor, black, white, purple, young, old, it does not matter. Just because you're rich and famous, does NOT mean that addiction is any easier, or that you'll seek help sooner, or that you're any more in control of your life than someone less fortunate. When you're an addict, your life is quickly becoming unmanageable, period...and it doesn't take long before that drink or drug is controlling YOU, not the other way around.

Just my 2 cents.
This topic is something highly personal for me, as my husband struggles with addiction every day of his life. I wish I could tell him to just "get over it," and quit...but that never worked for him, or for me.

I get so mad/frusterated when I see stuff like this. Everyone hates her, thinks she's a bad mom, a bad person- just horrible. Honestly, I like her. She's worked for what she has for her career. The things she's done in the past weren't good, everyone makes mistakes.
But as for her shaving her head? MILLIONS of people shave their heads, I don't see anyone making a big deal over that, ITS HAIR. Does that make her a bad mother? Does that make her less of a human being with no feelings? I don't think so.
If I shaved my head and got a few tattoo's, would anyone think of me as less of a person, or a human being? Probably not. I think its so mean when people judge someone who they don't even know!
People are gonna think what they want of her, hair- or no hair. And thats sad becuase for all we know, she could be a genuine, sweet person.
End rant.

In my opinion, it's not just the hair. So many things she's done...she has got to be suffering, somehow. I keep looking at how the decisions she's making now are gonna affect her kids. She's a mother, she needs to focus on the kids & do what's best for them. I think she is a good mother...I've seen nothing concrete to prove she isn't. It's just that it seems her haicut & tattoos were a desperate plea, IMO.

Ideally, the media would leave her, her kids, whatever she does....alone. Just let her be in peace...she needs it. Things have been tough on her.....but this article just made me wonder if she was thinking? If she was in rehab for a day...she needed to stay there. Whatever she was in rehab for...I wonder how is has affected her. Judging(strictly from the article posted) she seems to be...troubled. It seems that she was not acting rationally.

It makes me so sad to think that someday....her kids might see things like this.

I heard she was drugged out or something when she did it, and supposedly the hair stylist wouldn't shave it so Britney did it herself. Wasn't she in rehab a few days ago?

RE: "I was thinking she wanted to be hairless - everywhere."
Like they say, bald is beautiful.

I don't have much of an opinion.
She makes me sad. Poor girl, I wonder whats going on with her.. she seems so troubled and in desperate need of help.
Help she'll only get once SHE asks for it. She has to do the hard work, the therapy, rehab, the soul searching in order to find her self esteem.

I don't know.. she just seems so sad.

I could care less about what she's thinking....i do however care about what she's NOT thinking about- her two sons!
She is obviously neglecting them with all the partying and stupid things she's done lately. I hope she FINALLY decides to stay the course and get the help she needs- those boys need their mom- and they need their mom to be there for them- not leave them with a sitter while she's going out to party, shave her head, and get tattoos! I know a lot of people disliker her- i don't really care eithor way- i see a person, not a celebrity right now- and i see that this person is going downhill fast- she needs to get help and she NEEDS to step up to the plate and be there for her sons. And just to add one more thing- her new "edgy look" just looks plain trashy in my opinion.

2 babies, in 2 years- I wonder (sorry if this has been mentioned before, I'm running out of time and didn't get to read the whole thread) if she has been checked for post partum depression? Severe cases of that can make people do nutsy things they wouldn't normally do
.

You know- that's a very valid and good point. I wonder about that. Her behavior just seems out of wack and she just seems so depressed/irrational. I am praying she gets the help she needs- especially for the sake of those two little boys. They deserve to have their momma there with them...and she owes it to herself and her children to get the help she needs to make positive changes in her life.

I mentioned the post-partum thing earlier too...it can make a new mom really irrational and borderline psychotic (not saying she's there yet...maybe just headed in that direction)...

She has looked like total crap the last year or so...haggard, tired, and totally sloppy...and like I said before, I'm not a fan, but I always thought she was a very cute young lady, and while always on the trashier side of the fence, did have her own all-American blonde beauty thing going. She just hasn't looked right to me as of late...too much partying, too many late nights, too much alcohol and/or drugs...I really do think that she's losing her grip. Her career has sunk down the tubes. Apparently she's due for another album later this year and a tour. How hard is this going to be in her current state of mind? Ugh.

I agree with you 100% on this one. I also think that if need be, she should reschedule her tour and concentrate instead on getting her life back on track and her two little boys before she plans on traveling.
