As some of you know we just took on a new kitty, Dr. Dee Claw. He rips out the fur on his hind quarters and on his belly. Now, I took him to the vet and he had a nasty case of fleas, so we got rid of those. I am treating the dry patches on his belly with some vet given anti-itch medicine. The fur ripping has continued. So, here's what I can come up with: it's either a bad case of nerves or it's an allergy. The following are things that I've done:

1. I've been using Feliway for the past few days. He seems to be slightly more comfortable in the apartment.

2. I've switched him from Meow Mix to Innova Dry (we are still in the process of this. Thank goodness he likes it. Meow Mix poops are the WORST!)

So, what road should I take first? Should I be seeing this as an allergy, or should I be treating this as a bad case of a nervous cat?

I'm going to give him some time to adjust here. He's still in the process of hiding under the big red chair in my bedroom. We are also moving next weekend to a new apartment, so all the boys will be in neutral territory.

I feel so bad for him. He looks like a Sphinx/Tonk cross!
