You go to Wal-mart and people leave their freaking shopping carts out everywhere because they are too lazy to put them back?? Well, yesterday it was windy as hell. I had a premonition to move my car, but I didn't. I came back out and not only did I have scuff marks, BUT I had a dent in my NEW car!!!!!!
It's not even two months old!!! Oh, that is such a pet peeve for me!!! I think if you can't put it either back into the cart holder or take it back, I think you should not be allowed to have one. In Europe, you have to stick a coin into the cart to be allowed to use it. If you put it back, you get your coin back. I think they should do that here so people's car wouldn't be damaged by careless people....

If that's not bad enough, I almost had another one hit my car while I was there!!!
Anyone else experience this problem or hate it when people do this?

My SIL had a shopping car attack her car. It was really windy and the shopping cart just kept banging into the car and then scratched the side. Did several $100s of damage.

I will admit to being guilty of leaving my car out in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Wal-Mart stresses me out so much and leaves me in such a state of exhaustion, that I just want to get the heck out of there once the car is loaded.

I'm a stickler for putting carts back. We have the $1 returns here in some places, and it certainly works. I wish our local supermarket would do that as we have so many students around here and they're always stealing the carts taking their shopping home. It's so trashy to have shopping carts strewn about.
Mind you, I'm really bad for leaving my cart in the middle of the aisle when I'm shopping!

There is a Wal-Mart in Raytown, MO that had a good idea. Every time a customer brings in a cart from the parking lot, the door greeter gives them a ticket. Every Saturday they have a drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate. They discovered that it is cheaper to do that than to pay their employees to round up the carts, and most people would grab a cart outside and bring it in. This was 10 years ago, I don't know if they still do it, but I think they all should.

Well they leave them around the store, what makes you think they wouldn't leave them anywhere outside

Sometimes if we have to park really far away and it is icy/snowy I will leave it, but I usually push it up on to the little grassy blvds so it doesn't move around hitting cars

Oh yeah, that is very annoying. At my grocery store, we have that coin thing too. Its a good idea because then they don't get left all around the parking lot.

Im sorta guilty of this........*blushes* It actually just depends on the type of shopping expereince I had in there(LOL) or how cold it is..........but alot of times when I get done with it, theres cart people out there gathering them up, and they take it for me.

BTW-I know ALOT of ppl that park their cars wAAAAY out in the middle of nowhere, just so they dont get dinged and dented by a cart, or a car door.

I'm guilty of that too, but usually I will take it back to the cart corrals they have but last night I was SO cold and tired, I just wanted to leave. I did put it in the snow so I knew it wasn't going to move because I had a horrible time trying to get it to my car with all the snow beside it. And there was a guy picking them up while I was leaving so I knew it wouldn't sit for long.

I can understand if it's icy or cold, or you were too tired, but as I read many of you find an alternative of putting it elsewhere, so it does not just roll away somewhere. I'm talking about people who just leave them in the parking lot next to their car where they can go at will. These people don't even seem to care.

I can tell you I will never go to this wal-mart again. The one in Killeen is the worst in the nation! Fort Hood is right next to us (the largest military installation in the free world) and this wal-mart also generates the most revenue than any other in the nation. Thus, the major problem. It will only get worse because they are closing more bases here in texas and sending them all here.

I also hate it when there is one in the parking spot. I avoid parking there, or, I park and take it in with me.

They actually have the coin things on the carts at Aldis here so why can't they have them at any of the other stores? Being guilty of not putting the carts back in the proper places, I sure would no matter how cold it was to get my money back from it. (unless I was just freezing like last night. Then, it'd be a toss up)

If it is an Aldi grocery store I'm not surprised to hear that. lol It's a german chain grocery store, thus the reason they do it. That's actually where I got the idea from. I had forgotten they did that until I went to visit relatives.

Last night...there was a cart in the spot right in front of mine. Some jerk head wanted to park in that spot, so they just drove in...hit the cart....and pushed it into my car! I was getting into my car to leave...I got out & boy did I cuss up a storm!!! Thankfully there was no damage to my car, but they damaged their car! The guy was like a walking idiot-stick....he told me that I should've backed out faster....yeah...jerk...there was a mom & 3 lil kids walking behind me!!!!

I probably would've made him give me his insurance card and then I'd call them and tell them what he'd done and how he drives. Obviously he doesn't need to be on the road. Jacking up his insurance might have made him think twice before pulling that stunt with anyone else.

That would have made me sooooooo mad! I cussed up a storm one time because I was waiting for someone to pull out of the second slot and this nimrod in the 4 slot could see I was close to behind him and he decided to start backing up even though he knew he couldn't get out!!!
He would have HIT MY NEW CAR had I not backed up!!! I mean what the hell is wrong with him??? I should have gotten out and banged on his window and asked what his
problem was! So I just flipped him off and he looked at me like I did something wrong!! This is why I hate driving and the public in general. I don't think one day goes by that I don't encounter some stupidity somewhere.
