My daughter has a chinchilla named Joey who's 10 years old, and just got another one - a beautiful little 5 month old boy named Jack. She calls them the Chi Chi Boys. Here they are!

My favourite pic of Joey!

New baby Jack!

Both of them

Erica lives in a condo with 2 roommates, one of whom has a 3 year old son, 2 cats - Bobby, who is a little Russian blue that looks like Jacob with a haircut; and Arthur, a beautiful tabby; 3 degus who are very friendly, a hamster named Sven plus Jack and Joey. A very furry household!

Yes, actually they do get along very well. Jack took to Joey right away. Joey can be a little bit of a drama queen at times though! He decided a week ago that Jack had been there long enough, and faked being sick, so well that Erica took him to the vet! Anyway, as soon as she got there, the little beggar sat up and was running around, not a thing wrong with him!
The vet got a good laugh out of that! Anyway, he's settled down again and is being friendly with Jack again.

so does she let the chinchillas run about & play with the kits then - tell her to try and get some snaps, they would be just great

She says the cats don't bother with the chins, but I have a hard time with that concept! Joey can run around - he's litter trained, so doesn't make messes. Jack she's working on, but had me bring up her giant hamster ball for him to run in.

Chinchinillas are just the cutest! I looked after one last summer and I couldn't believe how soft he was. I hand fed him raisins and he'd hold them in his little paws and munch them. So cute!
Sounds like a very active household. Personally, I'd be wary of letting them out with the cats around. It's only instinct after all for the cats to hunt them.

Wow, I never new they lived that long. I guess I thought they are like rats that only live three to maybe four years.

They are cuties. I have thought about getting some at one point but I just do not have the time or space for them right now.
