Does Anyone Else's Cat watch Animal Planet?

Penelope got MAD last night when I switched from Planet's Funniest Animals to the hockey game!!
She went over to the TV, looked at me, then back at it, and then she started meowing!!


I find whenever we have that channel on, if she is in the room, she will fixate on it no matter what show it is. Yet with other channels, she pays no mind. (Although she does seem to like football).

Anyone else's cat seem to have an Animal Planet Fetish?

Wait until you get HD! Or do you already have it? APL does not show in HD yet, but some of the other animal programs are in HD. Persi and Alley absolutely think that the animals on in HD are real. Also, the fact that the screens are so large, the cats see a cat their exact realife size. And more important still is that cats eyes can determine a TV's scan lines better than a human's, there is no way they don't think this is the real thing.

My cat LOVES the most extreme. They had I think it had to do with speed, so thy were showing this mouse/gerbil looking thing running really fast at a bunch of different camera angles and Neko loved it! There have been a few other times he has watched the most extreme too, it was really funny.

Neely is in awe of Meerkat Manor.
Their quick movements have her glued to the tv. Sometimes she even tries to look behind the tv!

Carly loves the HD Discovery channel. Birds grab her attention right away and once she decided to try to get one. She also will watch hockey so hubby doesn't get dirty looks when he changes the channel.

Right now our version of Animal Planet and HD TV is the window by my bed. Ari has been glued to it watching the birds in the snow.

Great pics and stories!

Penelope also adores Meerkat Manor, although she hasn't gone behind the TV to investigate yet.

She is also a fan of Disney/Pixar films. She went behind the screen while watching "Brother Bear" looking for the animals. And she never took her eyes off of the set for Finding Nemo.

Sadly, our TV is not very big and we do not have HDef yet. But that's (hopefully) next Christmas's gift! I see it will be a gift for the whole family!

Fluffy is our little tv watcher. She likes Animal Planet, but she loves NASCAR. She will sit for hours and watch the races with me. She won't tell me who her driver is, though.

Mine does! Of course, birds, dogs.. and other cats. It is very funny. She will smack the screen to get them. Even if there is no sound, animal planet is HER channel. Funny to see yours also recognizes this is about animals!

Apart from animal planet, she reacts also when she sees a baby on tv! not only when she hears it, but simply when there is one on tv! I guess this reminds hers of the kittens she once had.

My cat loves animal planet too! That is the only thing she watches. When we leave we turn it on that channel. The other day there was a show on about snakes. She was watching it so close the snake went to strike at something, and the cat jumped. It was so funny.

My baby, Quigley, loves to watch TV. I haven't noticed any particular channel, just certain things that snag his attention.

He also has a love affair with himself in the china cabinet glass. At least that is the only thing I can figure. He sits up and paws like mad at the glass. You would think he was trying to dig thru the glass. He goes a mile a minute or maybe 5 miles.

He is so funny.

One of my cats is a total TV junkie. She would watch anything for 2-3 hours without getting bored!

They aired a High def movie about lions and she was just totally going crazy about it.

My Penelope also enjoys the scrolling marque on some of the news channels. She is very smart....

Paris loves dog shows. She's real mean to Moscow though, and terrorized the neighbor's dog when she got out as a kitten. But she watches that show so intently. I record them for her on the DVR now.

Abby LOVES Animal Cops, Animal Precinct, etc. If you put any of those shows on, she will be glued to your lap for the entire duration.

Her previous owners abanoned her when they moved out, leaving her with an undersized collar, a bad skin condition, and no food or other care.
So, I think she's watching to see if they arrest her previous owners. She seems to get a particular satisfaction when animal abusers are sent to jail.
