(Especially since I'm so bad about remembering people's b-days and posting to everyone's threads since I don't spend so much time in the lounge
).
I slept in late - woke up about 10 minutes ago! Gotta go shower and get downstairs to help Gary in a few. A client of ours has his b-day on the 23rd, but decided to celebrate it today. Gary's an amateur gourmet cheft, which a bunch of our clients know. They asked if we could do a tasting party. So we spent yesterday cooking, and will finish up today. But - since it's my b-day today (they didn't know that at first), it's become a party for both of us. It's the first time I've having a birthday party since - since - since I can remember!
Main course: Spicy Yemeni oxtail stew served with either couscous or saffron rice.
Apps: (Gary made/is making everything from scratch - I'm the assistant)
Tureen de Fois Gras
Triple layer tureen of fois gras (paté de campagne, truffled fois gras mousse and truffled fois gras)
Red pepper/artichoke bruschetta
Truffled artichoke tapenade on garlic toasted french bread rounds
St. Louis style and Kansas style B-B-Que ribs
Peppadews stuffed with Maytag blue cheese
mini hot dogs in a wrapper (for the kids)
Mini quiches
Cheese straws
Veges with dips: Bleu cheese, chipotle ranch, spinach
shrimp cocktail
baby lobster pot pies
garlic crostini with marinated fresh mozzarella
.... I don't think I forgot anything.
Gonna be a busy day!

This was my first birthday "card":
He wrote all over the shower walls with those tub pens.
(The "I'm sorry I shot paint on your chicken" one is because we were bickering like crazy yesterday - and that's from Dennis the Menace with Walter Mathau. It's a fun way to apologize (it's something Dennis did in the movie. The alternate is "I'm sorry I put toilet cleaner in your nose spray."
Oh - the symbols are an eye, a heart, a u, arrows going all directions for "big," and a clock - meaning "I love you big time."
