Its seems a bit like a double standard too, that you are OK with genetically engineered vegitables, but don't think its 'man playing god'.
Of course any statement will seem like double standards when taken out of the context it was meant.
Let me clarify for you,IMO man 'thinking he is God' is because he kills and manipulates animals for their meat and their resources,IMO nobody has the right to take any life,Wether human or animal.
'Playing God' The words you put in my mouth-,IMO is developing and producing biological viruses with the intent of causing destruction to whole races of people with the intent of reducing the populations.http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/sepp...es_maathai.htm
Developing genetically modified food if developed with caution and used appropriately would solve the worlds hunger problem,I don't see this as playing God.
Getting back to the main subject,
Developing and growing slabs of meat for the food industry I don't believe would solve the world food shortage,For one when you look at how many animals are killed each year for food,Just here in the UKhttp://www.viva.org.uk/campaigns/sla...eathreport.htm
....Animal lives are cheap, there is no way growing meat in a petri dish is going to be commercially viable.I wish it would be,because people will never stop eating meat,so if this were to be viable then at least there wouldn't be the
amount of animals being killed for food every year and as much as people would
like to think eating meat is not cruel,Maybe the 'act' of eating meat is not cruel,
How can it be? meat is dead,It can no longer 'feel',But the whole 'process' of producing
meat IS cruel IMO.Especially the production of 'Halal' and 'Kosher' meat.http://www.viva.org.uk/campaigns/rit...hter/index.htmhttp://www.viva.org.uk/campaigns/slaughter/std1.htm
I don't care who eats meat and who doesn't,Thats their choice I'm not going to judge anyone, but I believe everybody who does eat meat, should be aware of the 'process' these animals are subjected to.
BTW Lynda McCartneys Sausages don't make me feel sick because they don't
taste like meat.I was referring to the Quorn.
Right Paul you can withdraw the libel now
