u rent a movie from the video store and u finally go to watch it and it doesnt work
It took me over 4 times of putting it into my dvd player to register and its one of those 2 sided discs which I always seem to have trouble with and I know its not my dvd player because I watch my series of t.v. shows nightly and well tonite i couldnt decide and well its gonna be a movie called bandidas it has penelope cruz and salma hayek in it, hope its good

But dont u just hate when u rent a video and it aint cheap no more well we have a deal were we pay $30 a month at hollywood video and we get up to 3 movies including new releases and we dont have a date or nothing of when they are due back, although my mom hates paying for it but she loves the movies that are coming out if we didnt have that each time we would rent a movie it would cost almost $4 so well i think we got a pretty good deal

Last week we got Gridiron Gang with the Rock and well it did nothing but skip, I hate movie stores these days theres always movies even new releases that are messing up, dont u just hate that or it skips at a really good part and u miss something

is it a older dvd player? it sounds like a issue with double layers dvd's .
i have a one dvd player that locks up , does strange things, not reading the disk etc.
i put it in the other player and reads it with no problem

I rent from Netflix. So my biggest worry is scratches or cracks in it. Thankfully I havent had too many though.

My neighborhood is right across the street from the library so I "rent" my DVDs from there most of the time. I pay enough in property taxes for my library that I don't need to give more money to other places. LOL I rarely go to blockbuster, etc for movies. I am a bit of a DVD collector though.

We also get Netflix and have never had a problem that was their fault.
We have had dvds that had a problem when we put them in, but running the DVD cleaner disc always takes care of that. I'm thinking our problems could stem from the fact that Siam likes to lay in front of the entertainment center where the heater vent is located under and it blows his fur up and into EVERYTHING, but mostly close to the dvd player.
Try running a cleaner disc and see if that helps. It's been money well spent for us with 2 kittys. The kits like to mark their territory with fur in our house

I had that happen once at Hollywood Video.

My daughters friend was over and she brought her two younger sisters with her. We went to Hollywood Video and rented the younger ones a DVD. We got it home and it was all scratched up and would not play.

I drove all the way back to get a replacement but they were all rented out

I felt so bad for the little girls. I ended up renting something else but it was not the same.

I get most of the DVDs I watch from the library and I swear to god that the people that took them out before me used them as hockey pucks in their concrete driveway or they have let their jelly fingered kids walk around and play frisbee with them.

I have had more than a couple that would not play and when I took them out to inspect the back they have finger prints/smudges/sticky spots.

I have learned to inspect the back of all the DVDs before I put them into the DVD player.

Some are so bad they will not play.

I actually have two DVD players in my bedroom. If I can't get a DVD to play on one I can usually get it to play on the other.

I think my better one has gotten ruined by putting these scratched DVDs in it.

Netflix has really helped us get control of our dvd spending. Before we were renting at Movie gallery and we were spending 30 bucks a weekend on movies. Now it's only 20 a month and we get lots of movies! We stay home a lot on the weekends so we sit and watch movies together.

A lot of rented DVDs are scratched to pieces, Mom. Make sure you check the disks. It's better to catch them later on TV.
