At what age should my kitten be full grown. He is six months and very small compared to what my other cat (they are biological brothers) was at that age. He will be getting neutered in one week and I was wondering how that will affect his growth. Also I have not been able to find what the average weight of a applehead Siamese male should be, so if anyone knows I would appreciate it, thanks!

I would guess around 5-7 lbs. Depends on the body build. Most cats grow till 12-18 months - but larger breeds like ragdolls/maine coons my not really be fully grown/developed till 3 yrs old.

He's got a bit of growing to do yet, Radar was much smaller at 6 months than he is now at 9 months, he's had a real growth spurt over the last couple of months and hasn't finished growing yet (he's cornish rex/siamese/dsh cross). Generally speaking, cats with oriental/refined body types mature a bit younger than cobby/stocky types, and females are smaller than males (in general).

But a lot of it comes down to the individual, if he is healthy and active I wouldn't worry about him being smaller than his brother, even littermates can end up different sizes. I asked the vet on our last visit with Radar about whether his weight was OK (I'm a worrywort) and she was happy to pop him on the scales and confirm that he was a good weight (ie neither under nor over for his body type). She reckoned that he would reach his full size and weight by 13-15 months, being a shorthair cornish rex/siamese cross.

It really depends on the cat's breed and body type. My kitten Diesel was 6 1/2 lbs at 12 weeks! He's seven months old now and close to 15 lbs. My other kitten Tucker is 4 1/2months old and only now 6 lbs. They are both larger breeds (persian and Ragdoll) so we expected big kitties but the size difference between them has come as a bit of a shock.

Just to alleviate your concern, a study was done and found that neutering does not negatively impact the growth of a cat. By the way, good of you to have him neutered.

Persi grew by leaps and bounds and hit 10 pounds at 8 1/2 months. This is all exactly as I expected since his mother weighs 14 pounds. But tomorrow Persi will be ten months old and still weighs exactly ten pounds. So, for six weeks he has suddenly stopped. Now it just so happens that a new cat has came into the house in the last six weeks but I am carefully monitoring who is eating what and who is doing what. I believe and hope that he is going to shoot up another 5 pounds in the next 5 months and that this is just a temporary thing, perhaps it could even be psychological due to the addition of another cat but this kind of cat does not just quit growing at 8 months old. So, think temporary and put your antenna up because I am sending you weight vibes.
