Its been almost 2 weeks since I had to put my baby Kitty-Girl to sleep.
I have come to the conclusion that for some reason her immune system wasn't strong and somehow she came down with FIP...my other cats are perfectly fine. I am watching them closely.
I still miss her terribly..and I have her picture as my background for my cellphone...I kiss her everymorning and every night. My daughter found a kitten on the internet that looks like her except he has a white fluffy face. I called about him (Marcus is his name) and he is adoptable and neutered, shots,..I just cannot do it..I feel like I am betraying my little girl.
To soon, I just do not feel right about it. I think the only way I might get a kitty is if my son brings me another abandoned one in the spring, just likehe brought me kitty-girl..I know that might sound stupid but I think she would approve.
I just cannot understand why this cat has me so upset,,,over the years I have had lots of animals and for different reasons i had to put a couple down.
(mainly dogs) I was never this upset...yeh I missed them and felt bad...but I am just devastated about Kitty Girl. Everyone in my house looks at me like I am crazy.. there was something SO SPECIAL about her..I just can't explain it.
I love my other animals (3 cats..2 dogs and a dwarf bunny) but I don't think I will ever have a bond like I had with Kitty Girl. I just hope she is happy and healthyand playing..thinking like that is my only comfort. Just not the same without her...

Condolences on your sad loss of such a beautiful girl
Her beautiful Lab foster mom?dad? must be equally devastated. What precious memories of the two of them together
It reminded me so much of my dear White German Shepard/Husky dog named Tasha and her foster kittens - even though her youngest son, Cubby, was a ripe old age of 8 when Tasha had to be put down cuz of cancer, Cubby went into a real funk for over a year, until my dad brought home his Wolf/WGS mix, Shiloh - Shiloh is such a replica of Tasha that Cubby immediately adopted her as "mom" and they are the best of friends.
Know that you have given KittyGirl the finest gift of all - a peaceful passing. That was an act of true love - unselfish, courageous, honest. Again, condolences on your sad loss.

thankyou for your kind words

You know it never dawned on me...Duhhh!!!
Sandy , Kitty Girls black lab buddy has been so bad, she is doing some really disgusting things lately.
She is going potty in the house, even though she is let out all the time.
She also is going in the Kitty box and taking the Kitty poop and putting it all over my bed. Sick !
I scolded her for going potty in the house. She went potty in the bathroom and covered it up with toilet paper. She is so smart. I swear she is part human.
I started putting her in her cage at night cuz she is being so spiteful..but it never occured to me why!
I guess we all mourn for kitty girl..my little ball of furry sunshine!!

I lost Smudge 1 in October 2005 to FIP, and it's still hard. It's just so...pointless.
I just was talking about him today. I do feel that somehow I was led to read the thread where Celestialrags was having kittens, and she named one Smudge - and now I own Smudge II...I hope KittyGirl will at some point lead you to a new kitty or something to heal your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. My sister went though the same thing a few months ago. She had spent a lot of money and talked to a lot of vets, but nothing could be done. Her boy was 9 months old. FIP is such a deadly disease. She was still in the introduction phase of her 2 kitties when he started to get sick, so the other cat was never with him. She still worries though and has little insight from her vet. He didn't seem to know. She threw out his litter box and all that, but has a fear that if she gets another one, there is still a risk of exposure and she said she can't go through it again. I understand.

My daughter had been looking online at the local humane society for about a week at Marcus. A male kitten that looks somewhat like kittygirl. I said no several times, but finally gave in and went to "take a look"
Marcus is very timid and somewhat feral from what they told me. But he is so cute. So,i like a challenge and they gave me a huge discount on him, We got him.
He was very scared at first. He got along instantly with my other cats..it was great because they helped him feel so much more comfortable. It has only been six days and he is running around the house like he has been here for a while. He is very timid with us but with the help of the other forums, I am sure he will gain our trust and become lovable. I still miss my Kitty girl and always will. She will always have a special place in my heart.

It has been a month, I miss her terribly but It is getting easier to cope.
I know she is happy and healthy, playing with all the other kittens over the "Rainbow Bridge".
I want to Thank everyone on this site for your kind words and for all the posts. It helped me alot. I was against it at first but we adopted a 4 month old from a rescue. He is a special needs Kitty that does not trust humans at all. My other cats are doing great with him. Tyler is his name.
Thanks to all and to everyone on this site..I am very sorry for your losses and I hope this site helps you as much as it helped me.

I am so sorry you lost your sweet baby. FIP is an awful disease. I lost my first cat as an adult to FIP in 1992.

Your baby is at peace now running and playing at the rainbow bridge. She will never leave you in spirit, and will always have a special place in your heart.
