It's a free-for-all here...the two dogs basically swoop down on the food like a pair of hawks, and gulp it up immediately.
Here is an interesting scientific fact that was researched: If you drop food on even the dirtiest of floors, if you pick it up and pop it into your mouth within five seconds, it has not had time to become contaminated. So say the scientists. Of course dogs and cats have no concern over this five second business but the next time you drop that wonderful piece of chocolate on the floor, grab it and eat it quick because you know it is not good for cats or dogs.Originally Posted by white cat lover
I just dropped a potato chip...2 large dogs, Dory, Ophelia, & Molly all dove for it!I got it first & threw it away...
What happens if you drop food at your house?

We trained Nunuk the same way, he'll just walk up to the food and sit next to it waiting until he's allowed to eat.Originally Posted by StarryEyedTiGeR
We've actually trained Fosters not to touch any food on the floor. He has to have permission (a command) before he's allowed to eat his food or pick up things off the floor.
Isn't it wonderful when they're trained like that.Originally Posted by missymotus

The cats sometimes come over and smell it, depends what it is as to whether they taste it.
Yep, we were worried about toxic stuff too that's why we did it.Originally Posted by StarryEyedTiGeR

It has also been wonderful at enforcing good feeding behavior with him and making sure he is not food aggressiveI'm working hard to train the other two pups as well
Thankyou i appreciate that!Originally Posted by missymotus

Good luck with your other pups
