Ben isn't too into the baby food anymore. Did you think it is ok to give him adult food or try another brand of food?
We are feeding Max Cat(Nutro).

You could give it a try. I adopted my kitty from the shelter at six months and she had been on adult for for a while before that.

It's my general impression (but haven't ever researched it...) that kitten food is simply higher in nutrients and calories.

My vet recommended to me, that I put my kitties on regular cat food, once they've been fixed. I do feed two of mine a raw diet, and to supplement that and make sure they're getting all the correct nutrients, I add Wild Trax. I'm not entirely sure this works for domestics. They advertise it for exotics, I think. If you're interested, I'll try to check it out and see. It's fairly inexpensive and it lasts forever. I bought four pounds of it in December.. supplementing two kitties daily and I haven't even put a dent it it. I doubt I've even used a quarter of a pound.

If you're worried about calorie intake, you might consider giving him a bit of nutrical every day.. they like the taste of it (generally). I think that also provides a nutritional supplement.

Hmm, if you're considering keeping him on kitten food.. My three love ProPlan. This is a huge endorsement.. given that two of them would *only* eat Meow Mix. The domestic has *always* eaten Meow Mix, and lo beware the day that I didn't bring it home and put it in her dish and opted to give her some other inferior brand instead. I listened to her complain for two weeks while we went through that bag, and she would complain the entire time she ate it too. Anyway, the point there was that she and the Mau turned up their respective noses at Meow Mix when the kitten came home and ProPlan was introduced. They adored the kitten food. They love the adult food. They might have even liked the kitten food better than the adult, so you may want to consider that. I've never used Max Cat, so I don't know what the price range is. ProPlan runs more expensive than Meow Mix, and I think cheaper than Science Diet. Definitely less expensive than Royal Canin or Innova Evo.

Best of luck! And they're darling!

There's no kitten food in nature, just food, as in birds and mice. Adult food is fine is he gets enough of it. Wet food twice a day in reasonable quantities plus some dry if you wish.

I would try a mix of kitten and adult .... at six months it is safe to .... IMHO Pro plan would be more $$ and lower quality

if flavor is an issue Max adult has several

Thanks for the info. Max cat food is about 60 cents for a small can. $30 for a case of 24. It's a bit high & my first time feeding higher quality food. He has been licking the adults dishes completely clean. I think now he has the taste he doesn't want to go back. He is eating less now too. We would feed two cans a day and now it's more like a can. Many people have said to feed kitten food until they are a year old which is why I asked.

Ahh, well, I was talking about dry.... I have no idea where to go with wet. The Bengals get a raw diet, and the domestic and the Mau get ProPlan, because they haven't decided they like the raw yet..but they do love the dry ProPlan. They only get a can every so often as a treat.
