Our fair Governor has said that all Ohio residents should avoid travel if necessary. Does this mean I get a snow day from work?

Sounds like it to me - unless you provide a necessary service such as hospital personnel, fire/rescue, or police.

And definitely not if you work for the highway department and drive a snow plow/salt truck.

In our state, they have to officially declare a "snow emergency" in your county before that can happen. Some of the counties around me have called one right now, but not the one I live in. The news and everybody says that if you go on the roads in a snow emergency county, you could get a ticket.

Hey, being in the same boat I'd say take the day off. If I can't dig out of my driveway, I'm not going in tomorrow.

I called my boss to tell him I wasn't coming in (I did try but the snow is over my snow boots and that is just too much) and he said not to worry about it, it is worse where he is and the wind is so bad he would kill himself trying to open the front door... so yeah snow day!
