I don't agree with the idea that 59.50 a year is expensive. That works out to about 16 cents a day, just under 5 dollars a month, or about 1.14 dollars a week. A lot of people visit a few times a week or more for a number of hours. That dilutes it even more. If I could find something as unlimited and valuable as TCS for a dollar a week, I'd sign up no question, so if subscribing must be considered expensive, I guess we're not giving our subscribers nearly enough benefits then.

Anyway, if anyone forgets the purpose of the forums, all they have to do is click on the forums index link to see H&N, PC&KC, Behavior and C&G at the very top followed by Breeding and then Ferals and Rescue. People also make lasting friendships here from the health forums all the way to the cat lounge. The support and friendship cultivated here is unmatched and accessible to every member. I'm glad that the majority of members are enjoying vbplaza, but it's simply a fun, light-hearted bonus that doesn't need to be taken seriously. The bonus benefits are fun, but I value the relationships and friendliness I see among members far more.

I was a paying member of TCS at least a year before the Premium Lounge was opened just because I wanted to show my support.

The ability to connect to people like you, who love & respect cats, in a safe, monitored environment, means the world to me.
The support that I have received when one of my kitties was ill, and the friendships that I have make here ... are priceless.
Because this site is so important to me...I plan, in my budget, my annual contribution.

Paying & non-paying members are all respected here.

vbplaza is just a perk that is fun but not really that important.
TCS is important to all of us.

Happy Valentines Day Puff

While I am sure none of the members, subscribers or others would argue against more perks, I value the friendships I have made on here a lot more than the perks we have as a subscriber.

My main 'perk' is the huge PM box and I would gladly pay the subscriber fee for just that with the number of PMs I get per day about signatures and from friends I have made on here, so the vPlaza is just an added benefit.

For a lot of people, $60 is a lot of money, but like Ryan broke it down, I well get my money's worth and the subscribers fees help pay for all the nifty features everyone gets so well worth it in my mind.

That was sort of my point really, $60 is a lot of money to me and certainly not an amount I can spare for anything non-essential. Especially since both I and my husband are members here and it wouldn't be fair if one of us subscribed and not the other, so for us it would be $120! (any chance of a couples discount?
)

I wasn't trying to suggest it wasn't worth the money, I am sure it is and I would love to be able to afford to support the site financially, but to me it is expensive - whether something is affordable is relative, not absolute - there's a difference between 'good value for money' and 'within my price range'.

Hope I didn't offend anyone with my earlier post, I'm having a horrendous decade financially and it's all come to a head this week, the mere mention of money is enough to have me burst into tears right now

hmmmm, I didn't even know that non paying members couldn't have colored user names..... I only became a premium member I guess 2-3 weeks ago. I didn't think it was too expensive, I mean maybe shelling out $60 at once is a bit much, but I paid for a 6month membership, @ $33. That wasn't so bad. It was something I wanted to do, to show my support, but never got around to it.....it was always on my list!
Then I started seeing everyone's larger avatars, and that was it, I would go through the hassle of updating my paypal acct to get a membership.
But, I was quite happy with my non premium membership, way before we even had "gifts" or "points", tcs is a great place to be, and I love the people here and the friends I've made....they are more than worth the $60 per year.

SWC, while I do think your Mr. Puff is just adorable, I am suggesting that you give your points to a new member, I think it's a nice gesture, and would make someone feel welcomed, like your reaching out to them! And if you ever come across an extra $30 and want to join in the premier lounge, we would be SO happy to have you!!!

(oh, what you said about getting more responses to a thread, in the PL there are much less members, so things don't move fast as the do in TCL, and chances are your post stays more recent and you will get a higher # of responses from the members.....just so you know
)

I think Puff is the cuties, fluffiest, cuddliest, puddy kitty ever
and I´d so lurve to scritch his tum...........

but if you were thinking of sending some to me - my challenge back to you is buy some gifts to welcome some newbies, thats what I like to do

I think it must get a bit boring for the premium members cos they can buy/give gifts all the time, and they know they'll get more points in their weekly paypacket. To be honest I sometimes feel gifts dont get spread about much, its looks so obvious when people already have 20 gifts - and more stacking back, which I know is up to the giver, but hey share the feeling about, is what I say

Trust me! The Premium Members don't think any less of those of you who choose not to or cannot afford to be premium members. We love you all the same!

so far it hasn't gotten boring, but it may in the future! I'll be sure to pm you & let you know when it does!
I agree about the tons of gifts, I gave a few to people that I'm close with, and then I went and spent a bunch of time finding people who don't have any at all! I made sure to get them each a gift.....I don't want anyone to feel left out. I know some people don't post at all in TCL, but do in fur pics....Skippymjp is one, and I love seeing Mike's kitties, they are darling.... so I went through and got gifts for those who didn't have, or didn't have enough points to get something for themselves. I agree it's a nice thing to do!

I find a lot of people don't have gifts because they are popular, but for a reason, so I don't necessarily agree. Some people have sick kitties and get lots of 'jope kitty gets well soon' gifts, I have got a few for making signatures, some people have got them from friends for personal stuff going on in their lives.

Many of the PL members have bought gifts for those with none.

And you are hardly short of gifts yourself

Again, the full main course of this web site is available to all, so I hope no one is offended by anyone either. I should add that long before vbplaza was installed, we figured there might be potential for people feeling left out, but the positive aspects overwhelmingly outweigh any bad and the response to vbplaza has been better than great, so it will stay. As for subscriptions, most subscribers have been regulars for a very long time before they considered a subscription, so there's no pressure. I'm glad that people wait until they are comfortable. We've never asked anyone to subscribe and people are never expected to tell us how they spend their money and why. Instead, the option to subscribe is quite humbly burried among other stickies in only two of our many forum sections that I can think of.

Just wanted to point out that it is NOT buried. At least for those who are not subscribers. It's in bold on the main page at the top.
