As Premium members get an allowance per week of points as well, it won't take them long to get up the points needed for the more expensive items, whereas non-Premium need to work hard to get all those points.

I think non-paying members, who most of the time can't afford a membership should be able to get something half decent with their points.

Ok I'm off my soap box now
I agree! I know another board that will allow you trade points in for lottery tickets. The winner gets a free subscription for a month. I also can't afford to be a paying member. I would love to. I think the gifts are great. I love the shop but I do wish there was something more for us non-paying members. Even if they would cost more for us.

That is what I do, I have not purchased anything for myself, I did purchase a rose in memory of Amber, but that was it.

All my other points have been spent on other people.

I like giving presents. It is better to give than recieve.

I do wish there was more for us non paying memebers, I also wish I had the funds to become a premium member but I would love to be a premium member but these cats cost me too much money
I remember when we had more options than gifts and so I started saving up and now I have nothing I can buy
But I do support those that are premium members I just wish I was on too

I'm sorry you feel this way. Paying members are what help to keep TCS going so the non-paying members can also enjoy this excellent site. As a member and not a mod, I feel that folks who go the extra mile to help keep this site up and running deserve to have a little extra as well.

Okay, off my box now and going to go back and put my mod hat on.
I think that paying members deserve something better too, I am not a paying member and I am not complaining about nothing.

I am happy with what I have.

I value the friendships I have made here more that anything.

Yep, this is the first board that I have been on that gives you points and lets you buy stuff.

I do like the points and the presents, and I did miss it while it was gone.

But like I said my friends here are more important than any points.

I try and make people feel good when I give them a present. I just want them to know that I care.

I just wanted to add my two cents.

I think that it is fair to have premium only stuff, but for myself, I would not purchase that membership because I just feel like I don't really fit in that well, so I'd just be mainly reading the way I am now....plus I don't have the money.

I like saving up to give gifts and I think the ribbons are lovely, but I also wish there was a little more for us non-paying members.

Kallie, I am sorry to hear you don't feel like you fit in.....TCS welcomes all and I like to think we're all a big happy cat loving family, albiet some of us quieter than others, kind of like real life! I feel bad for you giving me SWC's points, because I truly thought it was a joke, kind of like someone posting and saying, TAKE MY CATS PLEASE!
We know they don't mean it.........many a time I've tried to give my Tiggy away!

I will take your points and give gifts to people.........so they will be put to good use!

I just feel that way because I am so quiet unless I'm in IMO (which is sorta more my element hehe). I think everyone is great here and you all are welcoming!!! Sometimes, I just need to jump into things a little more
I do love TCS

I LOVE this site, I really do.. I've been a member here for years and I think its a fun board as well as very informational (is that a word? LOL) but I really feel that it is quite expensive here for premium. I run a large U2 forum with over 50,000 members and the board owner only charges $12 a year for premium membership and people STILL complain believe it or not.
If I had the extra money I would but times are tough right now, barely scraping by as it is!

I don't even have a bank account, and I work part time on very low pay for a charity, there's no way I could buy membership. So I can't turn off ads, I can't access the premier lounge, and I don't earn a 'wage' in points. I have to build points up slowly. I would like to be able to buy a custom font for my user name with those very hard earned points tho.
I think the people who can pay for membership (and I acknowledge support the site a great deal, their payments make it possible for me to post here) have a lot of things that I can't do already. I was very dissappointed to find out that they could buy stuff with their points that I can't as well. I don't get a chance to buy anything for myself (I own one pair of jeans and one pair of shoes, the rest of my money goes on cat and parrot food and vets bills) and it would be nice to be able to 'buy' myself something flashy online with the points, it's not as if I get a chance to in the real world.

IMO for me feels more safe because once I get passionate, I don't worry about what others think, but normally I'm a pretty shy, and sometimes defensive person....Sometimes I think I'm paranoid(sp??) that I don't fit in (all the time, but I mainly know that it's more of an attitude that reality

Maybe for my b-day I'll ask the hubby to buy me a premium membership hehe
