Am I weird for this...?

A friend I know through the rescue just called a little bit ago, asking me for the number to the City Police Station.
After giving it to her, she asked me how I got it so fast, and then she laughed when I told her I had them on my cells speed dial.

Is it weird to do that? I feel safer with it being there.. after a stalking episode that I went through, I feel MUCH better knowing its right there if I need it.

I'm not going to be taking it off, but I'll stop giving people the number if they think it's funny that it's there.

I know I could use 911, but I don't really want to unless it's an emergency. And I hope I never need to use it.

I have my local police station phone number memorized - why is that weird? I think it's SMART.

I'd memorize it.. if it wasn't for the fact that it takes me forever to remember phone numbers. it took me a few months to fully remember my pwn, and still not, 3 years later, i pause and think about it before saying it.

If you have a problem with hypervigilance or it's affecting your life (negative impact), then you should consider looking into therapy. Hypervigilance is a pretty normal response to what you went through.

For example:

Religiously checking that the windows and doors are locked = OK.
Religiously checking that the windows and doors are locked more than once = might be a little OCD, worth talking to someone about.
Religiously checking that the windows and doors are locked more than once, probably some other weird stuff, and paranoia about completely unreasonable stuff (caring more about having unfounded securities than unfounded fears - e.g. terrified of walking in longish grass because 'there might be snakes' - despite the fact that you live in Ireland) = hypervigilance run amok.

Having important numbers on speed dial isn't really what 'normal' people do (on average, people just aren't that cautious) - but it's only a little weird, and on it's own isn't worrying.
