in my thoughts, daydreaming...
My cat Garbanzo has thrown up 6 times in the past 8 or so hours. The first 4 times we found at the same time around the house, and it consisted of mostly cat food, some white stuff. Just now she threw up again twice in a row, more white stuff. I'm guessing she hasn't eaten since throwing up earlier, because it was clear.

She went to the vet today to get blood drawn, because she got started on a hyperthyroidal medicine 10 days ago. She's been fine up until now, but just today started with the bad stuff.

Do I take her to the emergency vet? I'm getting more anxious by the minute...

P.s. the reason I didn't take her earlier is because I thought she may have just eaten her canned food too fast. She did that a couple of weeks ago and threw it all up, but didn't for the rest of that day and was fine then.

Now she is hiding in a corner, and limped down the stairs when she normally "races".

My kitty won't stop throwing up. She's thrown up 4 times in the past hour, and 4 times earlier, around 9:30PM. I can't get to the vet, as I have no transportation and it's nearly 4AM.

The first few times, she threw up mostly cat food, but it's been white or clear liquid since. She tried drinking water a few minutes ago, but threw it all up, and I can't get her to eat anything.

The only thing I can think of that's changed is she went to the vet today around noon to get her blood drawn, because she started on hyperT meds 10 days ago. She's had blood drawn 3 times in the past 3 weeks and was fine after the first 2 times. Licking her wounds a little but OK.

I'm sorry to post here, as I've already posted in Health/Nutrition, but I know more people are browsing here. Is there anything I can do, short of taking her to the vet?

Please please help...

She really does need to get to the vet ASAP...but for now, try to keep her comfortable. If you have any Pedialyte, you might try to get some of that down her to keep her from getting dehydrated until you can see a vet in the morning. Take away her food for now, and just try to keep her hydrated any way that you can and then get her to the vet first thing in the morning!

I hope that everything turns out ok!

If there is an emergency vet in your area, it would be a very good idea to go ahead and take her in now! Cats can dehydrate very quickly and the results are devastating. Please keep us updated!

If there is an emergency vet in your area, get her there as soon as you can!! From your other thread I took it that there wasn't one close. You're baby girl needs you now more than ever, even if it isn't serious (and it sounds like it is) it will be worth it in the long run.

Get her to that emergency vet!!

You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Get some pedialyte into her system ASAP! It's an infant fluid repacer. If you don't have any- mix together some sugar and water and make a sugar water out of that- put it in a dropper and give it to her. You must keep her hydrated. But with the amount of vomiting she's done- she is likely already dehydrated. You must get her to a vet as soon as possible and get her an IV to replace the fluids she's lost. Please call your emergency vet tonight and ask them what you should do for her until you can get her in.

Take her to the emergency hospital asap...Agreeing with the previous post . dehydration is the largest danger right now, as well as the possibility of her being febril (high temp.)! Please go and take our caring thought with you..keep me posted...Lorax and Miss Mina (billkitty).

Thank you all for the replies... I'm getting her to the vet first thing in the morning (they open at 7:30AM) but for right now there's really nothing I can do, unfortunately. I'm in the house by myself, I don't have a car, and the emergency vet is a ways away.

I'm doing my best to keep her comfortable though. She's actually sitting next to me and purring, but I know I need to get her hydrated! She drank a bunch of water about an hour ago but threw it all up. I don't have any pedialyte but I'm going to mix up some sugar water for her. Hopefully that'll get her energy up a little, too.

Crossing my fingers...

Thank you for the well wishes. I'm getting her to my regular clinic first thing (they open at 7:30 - that's three hours from now, no sleep for me tonight!). Until then I'm trying to keep her hydrated and comfortable. Thanks again for the good vibes, I need all I can get.

UPDATE!

Yayyyyy, I finally got Garbanzo to drink a few tablespoons of sugar water
. It took a bit of trickery: I put a tiny bit of Flavor-Doh (which she can't get enough of) on the edge of the water bowl and she "inadvertently" sopped up some water with the Flavor-Doh. I think she realized how thirsty she was and kept licking up water for a while.

I waited a little while longer to see that she was still OK (i.e. not about to throw up) and then decided to go for trying to feed her something substantial. I put a tablespoon of her canned food on a plate, and she gobbled that right up. I'm waiting to give her some more because I don't want to rush it.

She's OK for right now, but keep sending good vibes... THANK YOU ALL!!

Garbanzo made it to the vet this morning! Everything seems fine today.
She's alert and perky again, and to be on the safe side the doc gave her a couple of injections (one for hydration, one to keep the vomiting down). She's eating a little and kept it all down so far. Other than hating the ride in the cat carrier, she looks like she's gotten back to her old self. Thanks for the good vibes!

I just found this, and I'm so glad she's doing okay now! You must have been terrified! The "white stuff" really worried me... did the vet say what might have caused that?
