My mother sent me the link to this last week. http://www.familywatchdog.us/ (National Sex Offender website)

I was curious to how many other people check these things out? I'm glad I did because it turns out there are 6 people in just my one trailer park on the registry....all for offenses against children.

The weird thing I noticed though is that most people in my city on here are registered for offenses against children, while my grandparent's and in-laws areas are mostly in other offenses, or one of the other categories. That's what made me think to post this here. That just seems odd so I thought I'd post and see what you all might know about that or think of it?

I also found this out; that last summer when a little boy in my neighborhood hit my new car with a rock and I talked to his older brother (mom was at work, dad in jail
) and really had to keep my cool....well the brother is on the registry. I feel very sad for that little boy, growing up in such a turbulent environment.

I do- i check it often and try to remember the faces so that if i ever see the person i will know to keep my distance. There are TONS of offenders in my zip code
And not even two streets over from me are 4 different schools all on the same street (elementary, middle, high, and a homeschool one). There are registered offenders living not even two streets over from the schools!!!!! And those are just the ones who are registered! It doesn't even count the ones who are on the run! In the past few months there have been numerous murders and violent crimes in my neighborhood where my mom and i live. So much so that i have moved in to Colin's house. He lives in Bartlett, TN (right outside of memphis but MUCH safer- that and he's a cop- so i feel much better here). I'm in the process of moving my animals and things too. My mom refuses to come with us though
We've offered for her to come live with us but she refuses...i worry about her out there.) / I use family watchdog all the time to see what's going on and who is living where. My sister also uses it too because she has 3 children. With wonderful sites such as that- there is no excuse for people not to use it and try to stay informed and educated on who's who and what offenders are living near them.

DH is from TN also. Do you notice that most people registered are for a certain category? Most for his home town seem to be listed under the battery catergory. Just curious if where you are in TN is the same, like how I noticed most in my state are against children.

I live in Memphis- so there are lots of different offenders around here...not really just one catagory- there were a LOT of sexual assaults and battery offenders registered too.

I checked it when I was looking for rental places. I live about 500 feet from an elementary school, so no child molesters here! Just the generic sex offenders (like those that pee on the side of the road).
