Stoli/Luxor fighting/playing AGAIN

ok - now i'm really concerned. I was practicing the piano when i thought i heard talking from the people in the next condo. well, i stopped to listen and it was growling. . . .from LUXOR - i've NEVER heard him growl. I picked up Luxor, spoke soothingly to him and then the same to stoli.. . .stoli ended up hissing at Luxor just one time though.

so now I'm wondering if :

they were playing and someone got too rough

they aren't being friendly anymore (stoli now has the whole bed to himself and luxor doesn't sleep with him. i thought it was because stoli put on some weight.

do cats just suddenly become enemies?

should i go out and get some Feliway to head this off at the pass?

Yes, try the Feliway. It is important to keep things from becoming physically aggressive. Growling and hissing is a keep your distance, back off warning, though sometimes it can become much more if one doesn't respect the others request. However, your cats are already passed intro and living together, so there is something else going on. What you did is the best thing to do, keep doing that as well!

Also, you may want to try to do some interactive games with them together. 8-Bit and Scratch went through that phase, and I found getting a laser pointer and Da Bird really helped. I found that if they had a common goal, like destroy the flying toy, that they got along better.

good idea. . . i'll be tiring them out tonight - they won't know what hit them!

oh yeah and after i broke them up and even this morning. . . . .they are little love bugs.

right now i'm peering over two kitties laying on my chest to try to type this. . . .stoli is cleaning luxor and he's purr purr purring.

Hmmm, what is "Feliway?" Just curious

Maverick and Penelope are into a "hate" phase right now too. In fact, yesterday, Maverick appeared with a huge chunk of his black fur missing above his eye. So far, distracting Maverick with toys has been the only way to prevent the constant fighting. I haven't witnessed a makeup session yet though. Is this just like brothers and sisters, having a fighting phase? I'll have to try the laser pointer game today if they start up again, good idea!

One thing to keep in mind, someone has to be Alpha cat. I assume that right now it's Stoli. Luxor may be testing the waters.

This is a natural progression and Stoli may or may not give up his position as Alpha, but they will sort it out.

i assumed it was something along these lines - i just hate to see my babies stressed. . . .i think stoli will be ok being beta cat. . . . .

As long as they each are members of a sorority, Alpha, Beta, they still are in the same college....Renovia University!
