Well, my dodo delivered 2 of her 4 kittens pre-maturely. The 1st is still alive and the 2nd just died.
Luckily, I have another nursing mom cat and she has accepted the 1st kitten and he's doing great. It's her first litter.

She's with the vet now...the other two still in her are alive - my vet can hear their heartbeats. She's had oxytocin jabs 4 times now...and nothing!

She'll have a C-section tomorrow morning if the kittens still refuse to come out
.

It looks like I'll have to spay her but I'm just not sure. She has the most wonderful profile and type - only her color is a bit off. As a breeder, I do want a breeder girl in my cattery but I can't let her suffer. She's in great spirits and is still active - I just don't know. I'll discuss it with my vet tomorrow before the C section.

Vibes please for safe, natural delivery of the other two....

Hugs to you and healing headbuts and calming licks to your baby mom and hopefully all will be well.

an ice cube in Iowa...
I'm so sorry about the two preemies, and the one that didn't make it.
Hopefully the other little premature kitten will thrive.

Good luck with the other two kittens, once they are born. Hopefully all will be well with Dodo.

I sure hope Miss Dodo manages to deliver the remaining 2 kits naturally.

I feel your pain about the C-section/spay problem. Our queen Cosmic Splendor had an emergency spay today. She aborted her 35 day old litter.
This would have been her second litter. The first kits were great.
It's very disappointing, but the queens health and well being comes first.

Hope everything turns out favorably for you!

I'm so sorry for your emergency abort/spay Nial. As it was for you, if it was her second litter I would feel better about it...

It's 1.30am now and no news from my vet so it looks like I'll have to go with the C section in the morning. The hardest decision is about the spay. She's so beautiful and typey...

All that matters is that she recovers well from the surgery.

Thanks all for your kindness, it's very, very much appreciated!

Well, all I can say is it takes a whole lot more than imagined to be a breeder - especially emotionally!

I received a text message at 3.38am from my vet.

Dodo naturally delivered a large stillborn girl at 2.45am

And naturally delivered a healthy boy at 3.25am

Labor was for 3 hours!

So the count is...4 kittens, 3 boys 1 girl, and only 2 boys surviving.

And yes, I DO love my Vet!!!!

Will be picking up Dodo at 4pm today!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers - it helped!!!

(((((((hugs)))))))))) I'm sad and happy for you. Tough decision. Been there, done that. Had a gorgeous calico rex who I had to spay after the first litter. She had 2 kittens and her mom (grandmom) also had a litter of 4. The grandmom took over her daughter's kittens after the daughter decided she didn't want anything to do with them. But those kits died - the grandmom pushed them away and would not accept them coming back after about a week old. Something was wrong when 2 moms rejected the kittens. So calico mom was spayed and placed in a loving home to be spoiled.

I hated to do it - she was very flashy.

Hope the 2 boys grow big and strong and you make the right decision for mom.

Oh, I am so happy to hear that Miss Dodo was able to deliver two healthy boys and that you didn't have to spay her! Prayers and {{{{vibes}}}} for you, Miss Dodo and the kittens!

I'm very, very happy to report that both kittens are doing well and has put on 30 grams since birth (an average of 10 grams daily)!
Dodo is also doing well.

Thanks everyone for your vibes and good wishes!

Hugs to you! My new silver chinchilla Persian came to me pregnant and she had them prematurely. The mother is doing very well with them. I think sometimes it just happens. For my girl, it was just too much stress. She's perfectly fine now and LOVES me!
She has to be with me and sleeps with me.

Hugs to you. I know it's a tough time right now.
