I actually think Hillary is smarter, and more practical, than most recent U.S. presidents, including her husband. However, I suppose she's such a "red flag" to ultraconservatives that she doesn't stand a chance. The same could be said of Rice: She has little chance of being elected, because liberals equate her with Bush. "Faust", anyone?
Edwards is positioning himself to the left of Hillary, which I find rather opportunistic. I believe the majority of voters will choose a "middle of the road" candidate next time round. There's been far too much polarization in U.S. society over the past two decades, and that has weakened the entire country. The last thing the country needs is somebody with a utopian vision. And Dick Cheney should keep a very, very low profile, meaning he should go crawl into a bottomless pit. He could very well give the next election to the opposition at this point.
