Why should the town pay?

Woman breaks tooth - expects town to pay. I don't understand why the town should pay for this when she voluntarily took the candy. The candy was not tampered with. Would she expect a friend to pay if the same thing happened at the friend's house?

That is just too funny.

If she took the candy then she should be responsible for her own teeth.

I would imagine any dentist would say that her tooth would not have broken if it hadn't already been somewhat damaged and therefore it would be her problem

That's just plain silly. Why do people always have to blame others for all mishaps?

Because some people are just takers, they want everyone to do for them, they don't wanna do anything themselves.

Yup. This is one of those trivial law suits where the person suing should be fined for wasting taxpayers money. Would she sue a store she bought candy from if that candy cause her tooth to break?

To be honest with you, and keep in mind I work in insurance, I wouldn't put this past a few of my "friends". They have small children and if they tripped and fell in my apartment we'd get sued. The last time they were over one of them attempted to climb my cat tree.

Needless to say I don't invite them over very often.

The town is still going to have to pay for investigation and defense with taxpayer's dollars. That is why these silly stories bother me because we have pay for them.
Oh, fer cripes sake. No one forced her to take the candy.
What the bleep is she having done for $4000-$5000?!? I just got braces and the cost is about $5000!!!! And don't we grownups KNOO that Tootsie Rollsa re bad for teeth? Criminy!
oh how silly. no one held a gun to her head and said she HAD to eat the candy.
What is WRONG with people anymore, they never cease to amaze me.
Id say this woman, yes - would sue her friend if it had happened in her friends apartment.
Thats ridiculous. The town should offer her at most $100 - or whatever the lowest price for a tooth extraction is. $5000 !??!?!?! Did she get the tooth repaired with diamond dust?

I totally loved the part where she said:

If it wasn't there I wouldn't have taken it

Ummm...just because its there still means you dont' have to take it.
wow thats the funniest thing i heard all day I cant believe she wants the town to pay?? What is wrong with people these days, she took the candy when she didnt have to it was sitting there for whoever wanted it, and how is that their fault that she broke a tooth on it, people are gettin rediculous and sillier every day i swear

I completely agree with that

Urrggghhhh why are people such morons!

Honestly, it's time our legal system stopped playing with these fools and started charging them for wasted court and legal time. Maybe it would be a deterrent to the idiots if they had to come up with money out of their own pocket.

Sorry, I get so dang mad at this sort of thing but I get more angry at our legal system for allowing this to go on.

I'm surprised she isn't trying to sue the candy company.
Oh geez... a classic case of "it's not my fault so it must be someone else's". She should pay her own dental bill.

Yeah, give her a little more time! She's probably consulting with her attorney on her next step.

I just can't believe how a person could be so foolish! Well, yeah I guess I can.

What people won't do for a buck nowadays!!
Our local paper had a case where parents where suing a local county as their 16 fell from a 45 ft rock-lots of hospital bills, etc.... The judge ruled in favor of the county and family has to pay legal bills. Turns out the kid was playing paintball in this park which is not allowed and the park had many signed regarding the terrain!!

For once, I look forward to finding out what happens when she goes up against the insurance carrier!!! And she admitted publicly that "it's part" her fault I'm so glad she's not in MY family!!
People dont' want to take responsibility for their actions - they are looking for someone else to blame and pay for their own problems or stupidity!

Morons like that should be in a padded cell for life.

They tried to CLIMB your cat tree?!?!? These are adults doing this?!?! Man oh man this world is WAY too weird for me. It's times like that you wish adults would act like adults instead of children.
