Yes, you read that correctly. I just had this vivid memory of her licking my nose while I was sleeping..then she BIT IT, and hard too!! I had to push her off the bed because she was having a heyday on my nose

Anyway, it was weird, and I don't know waht is wrong with her.

I feel your pain. Sonic tugs at the t-shirt I wear in bed if his initial attempt to wake me by dropping a toy on my face doesn't work. And sometimes he gets quite enthusiastic when tugging at my shirt. And 2 mornings ago I was suddenly woken by kitten teeth sinking into my back by accident. At least I hope it was an accident. I am not too ashamed to admit that I screamed.

Sounds like yet another cat pesty morning behaviour to me! My old cat used to bite noses in the A.M. and/or put his wet nose on my cheek until you couldn't take it anymore.

Exactly!

You're lucky you get wet nose on the cheek, I get wet nose rubbed all over my mouth, bleh.
I was woke up by Tomas crawling on my neck then biting my chin really hard.

Sho prefers a more subtle method, squishing me awake.

Wet nose in the ear is slightly more of a sudden awakening though

I get both.

I think Tomas was trying to tell me yesterday "look what the mean vet lady did to me".

Back to the top though, why do they always bite noses? Is it just because it's there?

They're probably trying to help us out by either:
A) Getting that noisy(snores) thing off or face so we can sleep better
OR
B) Getting that funny pimple in the middle of our faces popped!

Yep, and because it's one of the quickest ways of getting a reaction out of you

I had a budgie bite me up the nose once. His top beak up one nostril and his bottom beak up the other, clamped on to the cartiledge up my nose. A bird a few inches long and weighing a couple of ounces brought me to tears in an instant. Cats are clever too

I'll lend Dory to anyone who wants him...he likes to french kiss while you're sleeping!!!

Nat, I belive Trout was trying to show affection...she just does so in her "tortie-tude" way!
