When I was a kid, I had a friend, he was the cool kid in school, and he had a younger brother who was in my sister's class. We knew each other for years and then went our own ways.

Yesterday, I bumped into the younger brother - he is now a successful hip-hop singer in NZ and he still remembered me - hes done really well in his chosen profession and he is still the same person I remember - it hasn't gone to his head.

We grew up in a bad neighbourhood - he turned that around and made something out of himself, unlike other people he hung around with. I am really proud of him for doing so well and staying the same person he is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scribe_(rapper) - this is him.

Nice to hear that he still has his feet on the ground despite all the success- I'll have to check out his tunes

The best bit of the Wiki entry has to be that one of his songs iis:
the official theme tune of Celtic Crusaders rugby league club in Wales.
I don't care how big they are as a club, if I wrote I song I'd be well chuffed at that

Kellye, that really is great! Good for him for going on to success in the music industry (it's a tough industry!), and especially for keeping his head about him and remembering where he came from

That's great! I love it when musicians stay true to themselves and to their fans even when they do become famous. A band from my city is becoming quite well known across the country and has videos on Much Music, but they're still the people we always knew.

Oh yeah! I can say I got hugged by a singer.
My niece was all giggly when she met him (she's 10) and I said to her that it was her mother's ex boyfriend - she loved that.

I'll bet she's looking at her mother with newfound respect! It's nice to hear that somebody who's had such success has remained down to earth.
