Well, I got a cover letter, a resume, a list of teaching materials, and a set of studio policies all typed out.

I still can't get ahold of the studio manager lady, nor has she called me back (hopefully, she's just busy and hasn't like dumped me without telling me) so tomorrow, I'm thinking about dropping by the store to see if she's in and to leave my bucket of materials there. (Ok, so it's a folder, not a bucket, but bucket sounds more fun).

First of all, is this too stalkerly? Should I try calling her again? Or should I drop my stuff off and hope that maybe she's there and not busy?

Second of all, I like Nikki, could really use all the vibes I can get. If I can get these students, that would be HUGE! I'm DEFINITELY going to talk to my Flute Club colleague and confirm that I am DEFINITELY taking over her home studio. So I need luck for that, too!

In addition, I'm going to resume-bomb every school and music store in a 20 mile radius of my hometown, and in all of the neighborhoods surrounding me now. My goal is 30 hours of students, and no less than 20 hours of students. 20 hours is enough to eke out a living with after self-employment taxes. 30 hours would be living comfortably. If I get these 2 studios, I'll have around 25 hours of students automatically!

Good luck Allie!!
Sending you many job vibes. I know how stressful it can be- I've been searching since OCTOBER!!
Its a good idea to send resumes all over town- I did that last week and already got some hits!

Teach and perform, but you can unfortunately not support yourself performing classical flute alone in this day and age! Teaching is something I really actually love doing (some just do it for the cash) and it really is my bread and butter.

I've been playing since I was 8, so I'm fairly sure I've learned something in the past 13.5 years!

Wow, that's impressive. Cleveland's a good group.

My emphasis has been on pedagogy, rather than orchestral playing. Hey, I had to do SOMETHING practical! Well, pedagogy and 20th century music/music by living composers.

Good luck Allie!!!

I'm sure the studio lady has either been out sick or just really busy. Hopefully she's there for you to talk with!!
