Kindergarten students at Columbia Elementary in Joplin use the 100th day of school to make a difference in their community. Students collected 100 plus bags of dog food and treats, and cans of cat food. They helped load them into the truck of a shelter worker who says it relies on donations.
Every year, Deanna Hornback visits students to share the importance of i.d. tagging animals. Children learned 10,000 animals come through the local humane society each year. The project became a serious mission to the Kindergarten students:
"There is a lot of animals and she's gonna take the food, and give to the animals so the animals don't die," says Devyn Van Deman.
"They collect cat and dog food so they can stay alive," Liam Bell says.
"Because I just really wanna help animals," says Matthew Parrot. "I love 'em and stuff."
There just had to paste it for you to read. Couldnt get the link to work....
