I am with Nat, my mum is arguing with my sister so calling me in the time she would usually call my sister on top of the calls she usually makes to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love my mum, but I am maxed out with talking to her for an hour every 2 days... an hour and a half every day is killing me... especially as I refuse to get in the middle of their petty argument and think they should both just grow up

Oh no that must be so difficult, I mean Radar attacks my mum's legs every time she comes into my flat, but she is very tolerant and an animal lover (and it's my flat and my cat
), but as far as she's concerned all pets are members of the family, even tho she's not fond of cats and my parrot bit her once, but she knows I love them (she looks after the parrot when we're away). My parents drove us nearly 3 hours each way to pick up Sonic and gave me half the adoption fee for him as my Xmas present. They like budgies and rabbits especially, but not so keen on cats and larger parrots, they are soft on animals generally tho

Nat, you want me to give my mum your mom's number and they can talk?

She wants me to open the oven and turn it on to let heat in my place because I am freezing..I said "no mom, Trout will jump in the oven"..she says "well you should get rid of her then." Uh...how does that even make sense? Who opens their oven for heat?

Oh and by the way, she finally just let me go for the second time tonight, and said she would call tomorrow
..And she called me a jerk for not talking to her. She was half kidding, she still said she loves me. But :censor::censor::censor::censor:, okay I get it, I should talk to my mom, but TWICE in one night with NO REASON?? Come ON!!

Is there any reason she may be feeling a bit insecure or lonely? I don't know what her circumstances are, but it can be hard on a mother when all her kids have flown the nest (sorry I have no idea how old you or her are and whether that may have been recent!) or is having work insecurities, or not feeling 'needed' (ie in terms of being a provider) any more etc etc. It's a difficult one really

Wishing I were anywhere but here
Why would she want you to get rid of sweet, adorable Trout??
Yes, it is always good to appreciate what you have no matter how annoying or irritating their calling may be. After all, you never know what tomorrow brings. I always wished I had grandparents. Seems simple, right? Well, the only sane one that wanted me around died a year before I was born. Just enjoy having your mum around. You'd miss her even if she didn't call. Just not as often!

if your mom wants you to get rid of trout I'll take the little sweetheart. I don't know whats with parents. The minute you say something negative about a pet they tell you to get rid of it. like Money troubles = get rid of the cat. My ex-BF's mom was like that he had a dog. if he mentioned that the dog chewed something it was automatically - get rid of the dog from that woman

I don't know. I have a pretty good relationship with my mom. I call her a couple times a week and were good. I normally go to mom and dads on weekends to see my friends and visit with them and my grandparents.

I feel your pain. I got one of those headsets so I just go about my business while my mother complains away. It's a lot less annoying if it doesn't stop me from what I was doing. Do you have one? I recommend it.

Welcome to my world!!!!
My mom calls about 50 billion times a day
She even calls when she KNOWS i'm at work and have my phone on silent
What is the deal! It gets super annoying. But i try to just deal with it and be nice - she's the only mom i have. So i try to call her when i can and return her phone calls so that she doesn't feel like i'm ignoring her- but i did get sooooooo sick of her calling 24/7 - i kid you not one time when colin and i were trying to have dinner - she called 14 times in an hour! After that i was kind but i told her that there was no need to call that often. That if i saw she called me and i missed it- i would call her back. There was no need to freak out and call multiple times every few minutes. / Also- i've noticed- the more i stop by the house and see her just to spend time with her- the less clingy she is. She just misses me is all- and if i had a daughter who didn't live with me anymore- i'd miss her to. So i try to be understanding, but i definitely can relate! / What i suggest (since you don't live in the same city and can't travel often) - start sending her a little card every week or an email.....and pick out a time when you're not busy to call her. / The more equal your "phone calling" the less likely she will be to call you 24/7. I understand!
.....and when all else fails- VODKA works

oh yes and one evil thing i do when my mom is really ocd about calling me.....i have IBS ....so when she calls 50 thousand times in one day and i really don't have time to talk or want to listen to her complaine about bills and people...i tell her "hey mom i'm going to have to hop off the phone. I'm sorry, but i've REALLY got to use the ladies room" ....hehe works every time!!!!

My mother called the RCMP* and the local police once because she couldn't reach me one night. She had talked to me that afternoon.

The worst part was the police showed up at my door not long after my husband's airplane landed in Vancouver from Australia! Do you know who knocks at your door if someone in your family was in a plane crash? I was so relieved when I found out it was just my mother stirring the pot.

*For us Americans, that's Royal Canadian Mounted Police - Canada's Federal Police; it's like calling the FBI.

Goodness- your mom is right up there with mine! One night about 3 years ago when i had TOLD her that i was staying with a friend that night and going to record some shows (back when i was a music industry major) we went downtown and recorded a few shows then went back to my friends place to crash because we were exhausted and it was late- i called her and told her. I don't believe i even told her where my friend lived though- but she had to have been following me because that morning when i woke up she had left a note on the windshield of my car! :censor::censor::censor:! I had told her where i was that night and who i was with and everything. Sometime's she's just crazy...like stalkerish crazy.I definitely let her know after that - that her doing things like that were not ok and that i did not appreicate it- i was an adult and she needed to recognize that. I know i'll always be her "baby" in her eyes- but stalking me and calling 24/7 is not cool. /Geesh- your mom called mounted police! Honey i would have stroked!

That reminded me when i was going to school in kent in the flying program. They had a story about a plane crash at the kent airport. and after a day of calling me, mom and dad drove down and called the police they had them get the manager to unlock my door and let them in the aparment

i had never told my mother that i was living with a gf in near by town. and had been for 2 years

OOo....that stinks Natalie.

Do you want to share my mom? A while ago (talking 5+ years) I asked her if she was ever insulted that I don't talk to her every night. She looked at me and said "I would run out of things to say to you!"
We were mutual on the talking every night: just not enough things in the world to say.

I had a roommate in college that called her mom about 5 times a day. Yup a day. I was friends with her sister who happened to live at home. Her sister told me that sometimes her mom would avoid the phone calls by telling the sister "No I'm not here! Tell her I'm out right now!"
My old roommate now lives at her parents house.

Anyhoo, my point is to train Trout to answer the phone, meow to your mom that you're not in and that you'll call her later.

I talk to my mom atleast 10 times a day!
But I love it. Neither of us have super interesting lives but we are really close. Actually I have been having withdrawls as I usually stop by her office everymorning (she works across the street) and chat with her a bit before work. Well with Lee having to be at work at the same time I haveto drop him off and then come here. So I am having lunch with her today!

Its perfectly ok to not want to talk to you mom EVERYDAY if you don't really have much today. Let her talk a bit and say "Mom, it was nice talking to you but I really have to get going. I have plans to meet so and so or I am trying to cook dinner"

I work with my mom, so I see her M-F, and then I go to dinner at their house on Sundays, so the only day I don't see my Mom is Saturday and sometimes I talk to her on the phone that day!!
