Fall Down go Boom.. Went to Hospital today

This morning I was going through my morning routine. I woke Lance up. He got dressed and took Kota out and started the car while I'm checking messages and getting dressed myself. After I brushed my teeth I went outside to get Kota and bring her back in. As soon as I stepped into the door my foot slipped and I fell. I guess because my feet were wet from the snow. Anyway. I thought I broke my foot. We had to wait till my mother got here so she could watch Sierra. Then my hubby and his father got me in the truck and took me to the emergency room. Well it's a little chipped but it's so small that it's almost insignificant. But the muscle on the top of my foot is strained. So I'm resting at home for a few days. I'd appreciate your well wishes. Cuz it still hurts. Though they did give me some good meds. I'm on crutches for awhile and I'm keeping it elevated.

Since I'm not doing anything I've been sitting in my chair taking pictures of the animals. But I'm too tired to load them into my pc right now. I just took a vikatin (sp?).

Anyway just thought I'd let you know my glorious morning so far. Hope everyone is doing better than me!

ouch! I hope your foot gets to feeling better soon!

You know...there are probably other things you could have done in order to be able to spend more time on TCS.....

OUch!!!!
Several years ago I stumbled over a pile of lumber in the garage and broke one of the bones on top of my foot so I feel your pain. Sometimes vicodan has icky side effects (like insommia)-I hope it works for you or the doc can give you something else more effective.
Tkae it easy the next few days-I slept with a pillow under my foot too.

Sending prayers and hugs from Mississippi that you get to feeling better soon.

I am glad that it wasn't no worse.

lol. You caught me! Yep that was my intentions all along... lol. I feel kinda bad because I stayed home after lunch yesterday because of some bad food I ate. Now this. My boss has got to be thinking that I'm playing hookie...lol. Thankfully I have my father in law and hubby to back me up. We all work at the same place.

Sounds like fun.... NOT!! I hope your foot heals fast. I bruised the top of mine pretty bad a few months ago. It hurt for a while. They gave me vicodin, 800 mg ibuprofen and one of those super cool blue shoes. Stay off it as much as possible.

Ouch! I was given vicodin when I ripped off my toe nail. Apparently, not only did I try to chew my fingers off(I thought they were hot dogs), but I also said some very embarassing things I won't mention. Enjoy the vicodin!

{{{get well soon}}} vibes comin' your way!

lol. Oh boy. I haven't gotten silly yet. But maybe it builds in your system? I've taken 2 so far. And I'm a bit sleepy but I can force myself to stay awake.

Within like one hour I was a slobbering fool because of the vicodin! Yet when they tried to numb up my toe to rip the nail completely off in the ER, it took enough anesthetic to numb up an adult twice my size & I could still feel it.

Look forward to seeing you on TCS all the time for a few days!

I have to agree - there are MUCH better ways to get the extra time on TCS!

Enjoy your free time - especially at TCS as you can't move around much.

(And I hope you're not in any pain and up and around pain-free super soon!)

Owieee!!!!!

I did something similar just a few days ago, so I feel your pain... literally!

My swelling hasn't gone down at all yet, and my foot feels all weird and out of place. It only hurts when I walk on it.

Here's hoping both of us heal soon and don't need any further treatment!

Oh man. We can be two hop a longs together... The doc only gave me 5 days off. Which means really just two days off work. So next monday I'm suppose to go back and I have my doubts at that moment that I'll be able to be on it 10 hrs on Monday. So I guess we'll see. Let me know how your doing.

Wow...lots of us are kind of gimpin' out on TCS.

I sure hope your foot feels better soon! Take it easy!

So it's been a few days now and it still hurts. I tried to walk w/o the crutches but it just makes it hurt worse. And it still feels a little numb. Godiva I hope your feeling better! I'm a bit pessimistic that I'll be able to return to work Monday. If there's no change by then I'm going to my general doctor. I'm worried that the E doc missed something. Especially with it being numb.

I hope you get better soon! I think it's a smart idea to go to your regular dr. if it still hurts!

I feel your pain. I fell down some steps a month ago and broke a bone in my left foot. The doctor just gave me a special shoe to wear and gave me vicodan for pain. It's been 4 weeks and my foot still hurts. I have severe osteoporosis and I'm surprised I haven't broken a bone before this.

I have my doubts about being able to work, too. I'm a waitress (I'm just a student).... not a good job to have with a broken foot!

I was thinking I should have mine evaluated by a second doc, too... but I asked some internet forum and a doc said to wait four weeks and see if it improves before getting a second X-ray and stuff... that way they'll be able to see the spots on the bone where it has healed (or not healed).

Do you have to wear one of those boot thingies? I do, and I notice it makes my toes numb... but once I take it off, they regain feeling. I think either I put it on too tightly or there's something about the way it fits that cuts off circulation somewhere. Maybe that's your problem?? If that isn't it, I'd definitely at least call the doc or ER you went to and ask what they suggest you do.

Mine is getting better... it still feels all out of place, but it's not so bad otherwise. I do feel this strange pressure in the middle of my foot and my arch, though... it's just odd and unstable. I feel like a bumblefoot.

I have this thing that steadies my ankle so I don't twist it. But it's not a complete boot cast. And I put it on really loosely. I told that doc that I needed time off work because I'm on my feet all day there. He said within a week I should be good and gave me till the 11th off work. That's next Monday. So either he was mistaken in his approximate time to heal or he was wrong in how bad the damage is. I've got a lot of bruising and I can't move my last three toes very well. And I've still got a lot of swelling. I've been taking the pill for inflammation but I only took one pain pill today because I do not have much left. Oh and I fell yet again. But didn't hurt my foot again.. Hurt my pride though.. The crutches got caught on the carpet.

Ouch. Hope you heal really quickly and the swelling and pain decreases even faster.

I tripped once a few months back and had sprained both ankles. The doctor gave me a pain killer as well and had a special brace for both ankles to wear for awhile. I also had to keep them up as much as possible and put a hot/cold pack on them to help reduce the swelling.

I sprained my ankle badly last year. The swelling was so bad you could not see where my ankle bone was on my left ankle. It took over a month for the swelling to go down. It took around 3 weeks before I could even wear some of my shoes comfortably. Keep ice on that ankle on and off until the swelling goes away. That is the only thing that helped me with swelling. You can buy an ice pack that wraps around your ankle. These are great because they will stay directly over the swolen area and not fall off or move around.

I was forutunate that this happened while I was unemployed. I had to take an entire month off from interviewing because I could not wear any dress shoes. I could only wear lose fitting beach shoes.
