Temporary Cat Litter?

Thread Starter
Hey there, we've been having stray cats around my house for a while now, and earlier my mother decided to take one in (it's cold outside). The cat seems house trained, because it went right up to her and seems to enjoy people (mostly me and her). It's late, and while my mother remembered to pick up some food for her on the way home, she seemed to have neglected cat litter itself, and I'm not sure many stores will be open around now. Is there any type of temporary replacement we can use for the evening for the cat litter?

Thanks.

How about some shredded paper.

Potting soil, if you have some.

Newspaper. Shredded newspaper or magazines should do nicely. You could use a dish pan or any large pan for the 'litter box' and then get the essentials the next day. Thank God for the fact that all grocery stores carry these items now-a-days...and you can even go out 'after hours' and get something in one of these.

Good luck!
