Neutered, Not Eating, and Throwing up Liquid

My six month old male kitty was neutered last Thursday. He plays, purrs, and does normal kitty stuff, but he's not been eating much. I even tried giving him wet food which he used to gobble up. Now he eats very little, and most times just gives a few licks of the food juice. He won't even eat kitty treats which he used to eat no matter what. Also, he's been caughing up brownish liquid, which I assume is the food juice.

Could his lack of eating be from the neutering? The vet says it has nothing to do with it, but I'm not sure if I trust the vet to give an honest answer.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I would take him to another vet right away. Not eating for even a couple days can cause serious liver problems for cats. Did your vet even ask to see him? Run tests? Anything? I would definitely get a second opinion.

I second that...please get him to see a vet ASAP.

ASSIST FEED HIM!

I didn't know anything about cat anorexia, and as a result, my kitty is on the verge of death. You can read my recent posts to see what I'm talking about. It started the same way, not eating and vomiting. (I searched for "vomiting" and "foam" on this site and didn't find much, then when I looked for "jaundice" and "yellow" a TON of stuff came up... too late....) I could have prevented it if I'd just started feeding her earlier.

I think it was caused by stress, not lymphoma and cancer and all the other stuff the vet is trying to scare me with. Certainly getting body parts snipped off would be a source of stress, eh? I'd start assist feeding and take him to the vet to check for underlying causes just in case.

He may be eating during the day; or my other cat may be eating the food. I can't be sure. I do know that when I am home and get out the wet food, the newly neutered kitty won't go near it.

He's not dehydrated, he purrs, and acts like a normal kitten. I was wondering if perhaps he may be a bit depressed and therefore not eating much. I know if I were neutered I'd stop eating too.

The biggest problem is that his liver can start to shut down only after a couple days of not eating, and then it will be even harder to get him to start eating again. That's why a vet visit is so important- a vet can tell you whether he needs to be force-fed.

There's no way to tell whether or not it's from the neutering without actually seeing him, but either way something is not right. He must be seen by the vet immediately - today.

I agree. He needs to see a vet. In the meantime, you might try helping him to eat. I understand that chicken and plain rice is a good start and should not upset his already upset tummy.

New kitty (Curby) is doing well. He began eating normally the day following my previous post.
