My cat has open sores on him. It started on his head and there's now one on his body. I've taken him to the vet and they can't figure out what it is. I'm giving him an antibiotic and may have to start bathing him. The vet said it didn't look like ringworm. I'm getting frustrated!

My cat is 6 years old. He's an indoor cat. We recently got a new kitty from a shelter. The new kitty has no sign of these soars. He's been fully tested and has come out 100% healthy!

any help would be appreciated! I'm really getting worried!!

Thank you
michelle

It could be stress from the new cat, or it could be a food or flea allergy.

I second Sharky's recommendation, a visit to a different vet is in order. The source of those sores needs to be identified.

I am puzzled at a vet who would send you home without some kind of a diagnosis or plan of treatment.
I don't think I'd go back to him/her again.

Well I do have a friend who's cat gets open sores/scabs around the back of her neck every fall. The vet really has not been able to diagnose it after all these years and just gives her a shot of cortizone and/or topical a cream to take home. I keep telling my friend I bet its a food allergy and to switch her food to a duck or venison diet.
