Aww crimeny! My first time loading a video into YouTube!

Both my white cats are deaf....the tortie is the blind one.

I swear she has sonar. She uses her voice to avoid walking into things. I just
that little funny meow she has...it is so sweet! Then again, I am slightly biased...

I should've kept the video going a little longer...she literally walked into the camera lens.
That might've been a dead giveaway!

It's not hard. Honestly, they'd all be dead if I didn't have them. Deaf cats aren't hard to care for. I have to be careful because Ophelia will bite if startled awake, so I just walk around the house stomping like a moron.
Damita is somewhat difficult as the loss of her eyesight has caused stress induced health problems, but if she ever sits in your lap you'd understand why. That cat lives for people.

My cats are nowhere as "special needs" as say, Katie's FeLV+s. The deafness/blindness isn't going to affect their quality of life, it isn't something that will kill them young. Damita, Twitch, & Ophelia are no different than Lily & Dorian.

Okie I just watched the video and are you sure she's blind?
Wow, I mean you would not even be able to tell by the way she plays! Was she born like that? (sorry if I'm hijacking the thread) And I LOVE the brrrr meows!! SO CUTE.
What a sweetheart she is.

Yes, I'm sure she's blind!
She suffers from a genetically caused retinal degeneration. She has had limited sight since she was 3 years old. Over the past few months she has gone completely blind, as she has begun to walk into things, mess herself where she's standing cuz she's lost, etc. Her gorgeous green eyes have become a hazy green. I have only had her as a housecat a year later this month.
Technically, she wasn't mine until Nov. of last year when I officially adopted her(she was my foster cat until then).

Thankfully, her mother & sister are healthy! *knock on wood*

That actually depends on which deaf kitty it is.
For the most part, they do OK, but it has been a bit of a challenge. They have no way to commmunicate. They've actually scared the daylights out of each other, but they co-exist without bloodshed. They don't sleep together all snuggly or anything, but they do OK!

Too bad some of you didn't live closer! You could've adopted Damita & Dorian!
I think if someone wanted to adopt them, I never could've given them up....well, at least not Damita!

Wow, what a fantastic video - Damita is just beautiful! I can't believe how well she plays! You'd certainly never know she was blind! She bats the toy first time every time!

That's sad that she messes herself occasionally - that must be horrible for such an animal who is a clean freak

none of your bussines
I can't watch your video because my computer sucks.
I just wanted to say though:

Aren't blind cats the most amazing? My Stevie will amaze me till the day I die. She was born with no eyes. She really likes to chase flies around the house and catch them. She's a killer, and a bully.
