With my love afair with Big Band music and swing, also comes a love afair with ballroom dancing.
I learned from one of the best, a former competition dancer and Fred Astaire School of Dance instructor, my older brother.

Jeremy not only does not know how to dance, but he's all feet

Such a shame as I've always loved to put on a Big Band CD (or vinyl) and dance at home for the sheer joy of it.

What a shame! I love to dance too, but DH's idea of dancing is to stand there and kind of shuffle his feet every now and then.

Aw....my husband will close dance, at home...but most often simply does a very silly little cartoon dance that makes me crack up..that's it, all I can get out of him.

Pat&Alix, mine is the same way. I love the silly little dances. I did get a lap dance at the bar on my birthday. He rode his bike there, so he still had on his chaps and leathers, and some of the people that don't know us thought someone sent me a stripper. It was hysterical.
A few years ago when we lived in Kansas City, he mentioned taking swing dancing lessons and you could have knocked me over with a feather. that would have been so much fun, but we moved back to Georgia kind of suddenly and never got to do it.

The surprise sounds neat..I know my dh would kill to get his non-working classic old honda goldwing running again.

Yup...my big broad shouldered, looks like a linebacker husband does this totally silly little dance..makes me snort with laughter

We have an '86 Goldwing, and I love it. We sold the Harley to get it. There is a great Goldwing forum that originates in Ireland. He should look for it, maybe it would light a fire under him to get it going. Those guys are very helpful.
Ok, I am done hijacking the thread!

Same for my DH....we danced at our wedding only because we had to! I'm not the most coordinated person either though!

I love ballroom dancing, and I made my husband take some lessons with me for our wedding. Since I was a dancer as a kid, I'm actually pretty good at it... but one is only as good as her partner, so we did alright. He got the two left feet award in show choir.
At least he tried. It was very romantic, and I still love to dance with him, even if we have to stick to the basic four steps of whichever dance we are dancing.
