I am having my time of the month so I've hauled out my heating pad to help out with my cramps. The boys have decided that sitting on top of a boiling hot heating pad is the place to be. Because I don't have two laps the boys have to switch off. There have been a few scuffles on whose turn it is, but we seemed to have worked out a good rotation. Now my little heating pad has a nice coating of cat hair. Thank goodness I can rip off the cover and wash it!

an ice cube in Iowa...
This happens to me too during my monthly ordeal.

Cats leaping off and on the scaulding heating pad...all the while I'm wondering how they manage not burning themselves, but it never seems to bother them.

What a darling image I am getting of your babies fighting it out on whose turn it is to lay with mommy and her heating pad!!

I have not had this happen to me yet. Although mine usually run for the electric throw when I am cuddled in that....

Awww, I really enjoy the purring of the cats in addition to the warmth of the pad [somewhere I've read that purring is the same soundwave frequency as ultrsounds used in physical therapy]. And if you want to try a safe herbal remedy, you can drink some raspberry leaf (not raspberry-flavored black) tea or take 4 raspberry leaf or strawberry leaf capsules the first hour, and 2 every 2 hours till you feel better. The berry leaf remedy is fast acting; also equally effective for many diarrheas. I know you won't feel like driving out to the health food store (some of the city pharamacies that I've seen sell raspberry leaf capsules in their GNC section) but maybe a friend could go out and get you some. Otherwise, you might try drinking the juice of canned blackberries. Just don't harvest the leaves yourself - they contain a stomach irritant until properly dried at the right temperature.

Thanks! I'll pick up that stuff when I go to the grocery store. I've had nasty cramps my whole life and it sucks.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Awww, I love when mine do that. What's really nice is that Scotty likes to knead and does it often on my belly when it's that time of the month. It REALLY helps with my cramps.
