I am really worried about Ellie. As you know, all four cats have been treated for ringworm for about three weeks now, and the others seem much better. But Ellie has been steadily getting worse, despite the shampoos, creams and tablets so far prescribed. And she is so obviously miserable. I took her back to the new vet on Monday this week, and the vet gave me some stress relieving capsules for her and more Lamisil cream. I also asked about her thinness, but the vet thought she was within the bounds of normality, even though I know she has lost weight. She eats and poops fine, though I think she is drinking more than usual. If she were older ( she is three this summer) I would think hyperthyroidism, but I mentioned that and the vet said no. This morning I examined her carefully and she is covered with scabby skin and what looks like dandruff, even where there is no ringworm. I shampooed her again, which she absolutely hates and now she is on top of a wardrobe, wet and shivering, and drooling up a storm. I will get her back to the vet tomorrow, but meanwhile I feel so sorry for her and don't know how to help her.

Cats ablity to fight off ringworm naturally or with medicine is linked to their immune system. At the moment I can't remember what the usual length of time it takes for a unmedicated animal to recover from it, I'm sure with your ordeal you've come across this information already anyways.

Make the vet check if you feel something is wrong, after all you live with this animal 24/7 and know when your baby isn't feeling right or looks different. If the vet doesn't want to, find another vet.

Oh no, Jenny

I was hoping that everyone was better now
Do you think that all the washing and prodding is causing Ellie to become stressed? Might be the cause of the dandruff style dry skin? Or the shampoo is drying her?

I hope you can get Ellie less stressed and on the mend very soon
Many }}}VIBES{{{ and
flying to you both

Poor Ellie. Perhaps the vet can recommend/prescribe other medications/shampoos, as the current ones don't seem to be helping her.

I have battled ringworm many-a-time and have always won the war using CS (colloidal silver).
Yes, yes...I know it is a bit left-of-center but the darn stuff really works!!
You can pick-up a bottle at any good health food store...comes in spray & dropper forms...it is tasteless, odorless & it works!!
Apply directly on area that shows symptoms & the surrounding area 2x per day until you see new hair growth. I have seen new hair grown in 7-days and that was the end of the ringworm. Does wonders w/mange & about 100 other ailments. Safe to take internally & topically.
For more info., do a quick search & you will be amazed.

Thanks Leesali. Several people have told me to avoid CS, so I am not sure what to do. Anyway,we are going back to the vet tomorrow and meanwhile I have isolated Ellie as the others really seem to be clear now. I gave her a Whiskas pouch as a special treat tonight and she licked the bowl clean, so her appetite is OK!

Sorry you & Ellie are going through this...very stressful. Glad she has her appetite...hoping you do too
As far as CS...when you go back to your vet. tomorrow, you may want to ask about the use of CS.

My vet. is not a holisitic vet. by far...but when I mentioned CS to her (to my surprise) she not only knew exactly what it was but with a smile on her face (possibly a closet user) said it would be fine & should work. Keep in mind, still charged me for & gave me a bottle of Sporonox (which I did not use at all).

Good luck in your battle.

Jenny, it took a lot of different meds for me to find one that worked for Damita. Most made her ill. I hope that you can find something to clear up Ellie's ringworm, the poor baby!
