I have been on another cat board for many years. I had been off it for a couple of years cuz I had no online service. Recently I bought a new Dell computer and have gone back to the old cat board. I had always been in touch with the owner of the board, we met on it and have also been to each others houses so we are friends. Altho I had no access to a computer for those couple of years we still kept in touch by phone so we remained friends. She lives about 3 hours away from me so we don't see each other very often but now that I am online we email each other every day and she has been a big help to me setting me up with my computer. She even came to visit me and showed me lots of stuff I wasn't sure how to do.

Ok now that you know a little about our relationship, do you think I should tell her about coming to a new cat board?? Her board only has about 5 people or maybe a few more but not many at all, I have known these people for years. There used to be a lot more but their were many disagreements and people left to open another board. So now the board has really dwindled to so few.

Here it is just the opposite :-) there are lots of people which is what I was used to before. This older board started out as the original CatFancy Board from the magazine. Don't know if that is still around, haven't checked.

I also like it here cuz you can ask questions and get many suggestions about caring for your cat. The older board hardly even talks about cats anymore, it has become personal, which is ok and what I am doing now (writing this) but for the most part it has become a cooking board, always talking about receipes etc. Since I don't like to cook to begin with, it kinda bores me.

I really have no intention of telling her that I am now on another board, I don't want to hurt her feelings or our relationship in any way. My question is "what would you do in this situation". Just curious to see who agrees with me or not.

I would not only tell her about this board, but I would also invite her to come to this board too.

My feelings exactly Belinda!

Invite her and her friends as well! We'd love to have them!

I wouldn't, you are free to frequent any sites you like and there is nothing 'wrong' about belonging to more than one forum of the same type. Of course we would love to have her over here, but for most forums, it is against the rules to mention competing forums so I wouldn't publicly post about it.

I never knew that, some of the other boards that I belong to do it all the time. I am talking about Nascar boards, and of course a LSU board that I belong to.

I just didn't know it was against the rules.

But you know how the old saying goes, You learn something new every day.

Thank you, you are correct in knowing the rules of forums. You can never compete with each other. Altho this is a wonderful board, I know she would never come here or go to any other cat boards. I would never suggest it to others on her board either cuz that would be sabatoge. I will just keep things as they are and not hurt anyone. Still interested in everyone's thoughts tho. Thanks.

I think if it comes up in conversation you can mention it. Since her board really isn't cat-centered anymore, she may be interested in checking out another board that has more cat info. She knows what the content of her board is so she may understand why you switched. But, you said you haven't checked out her board since you got internet again? Maybe its changed. Anyway, you know her so its up to you.

to her board. It was my desktop for a while also. Maybe if she wasn't the sole webmaster I could mention me going to another to her but she does own it. She also goes to other boards, food boards etc. I think I will stay mum on this for a while anyway. Thanks for your thoughts.
