ok call me dumb, but i do believe that the reason he does this is to prove
who's the alfa kitty! i might be wrong but this is what is going on....
Spook is constantly strattling Love from behind and grabbing him by his
neck, holding him there in that postion. Love just lets him do this to him. it looks like Spook is trying to get some! which is pretty disturbing since they are both neutered males. Love is the only one he does this to!
i'm sure it is some kind of domination hang-- up! it looks bad like they might be alittle sweet on each....if you get my drift! can anyone help clear this up for me? thanks monique

My 2 male cats do this too. The smaller one, Lovebug, jumps on the back of Basement and bites his neck/holds him down. Basement doesn't do anything about it, he just sits there, and he is almost twice his size!

If anyone knows what they are doing I would love to know myself.

I/m pretty sure it is a dominance thing, They have to prove who is top cat. My youngest, Pansy, keeps trying it with my dominant male, spike, but Spike will not allow it. My 2nd in command Fang, does it to Pansy, I guess because he is dominated by Spike so he feels he has to bully somebody, but poor Pansy(also male) doesn't ever get to be top dog, errr, I mean cat.

I think it is a dominance thing. Pete jumps on KittenKiya (both neutered males) and holds him down on the floor.

KittenKiya is twice the size of Pete, yet he doesn't fight back.

I sorry too, for us both! I didn't even think of it like this until my friend at our vets. office says, 'we are seeing "Scream" today?, You have all Halloween cats!' Spook, Scream, we laughed! Spookie is black, and we did rescue him at the carwash on Halloween and few yrs. ago. Then we fed Spook's mom (who was wild and solid black, persian almost) for about 6 mos. after, then I trapped her, she was pregnant, brought her home, she had 3 kitten, white, black and the runt (tappy- short hair, except for her tail which was about 4 in, round & fluffy) who came out Screamin' -never could find the nipple with out my help! That is were "Scream" got her name! She jumped over Spook to get outside that night I came in and I haven't seen her since! I searched for months, I will see her again someday, she is in heaven with my husband keeping him company!

Is it just a male thing? must be cause they haven't tried it on either
of my females! And Love, he is the fighter, out of the two, (he & spook)
I mean whenever we have a stray come up, a tomcat, Love is the one who always ends up fighting with them. Not Spook, he'll just become friends, or he just assume become friends with them! I love a cat, they are all unique in their own ways. Spook is the head, and the watchman, he looks
out for all the rest, and won't come in until everyone else is in and counted for! It's funny, I'll say, "Spook, go find GG." and I swear, he will , or he will sit on the deck until she surfaces. He has taught her to climb the canopy that covers my deck, jump onto the roof of the house, if they sense trouble!
I know alot of you really don't approve of letting your cats in and out. I would rather they all stay inside, but they were all rescued from living and surviving outside, in otherwords, feral cats. that I can't possibly keep them inside against their will. I have lost only one, to the woods here in the country! It is amazing to watch them and their different personalities!
