As most of you will know, I'm taking care of four 2 day old kittens. My question is, when they're lustily sucking on their bottle, the teat collapses as there's no place for air to enter, like on a human baby's bottle. I have to pull the bottle out of the little ones mouth, let the air enter the bottle and then usually have trouble getting them to accept it a second time, even though they were hungrily sucking before.

Any tips would be most appreciated.

Just as you can do a baby bottle, you can unscrew the cap just a tiny bit to let the air back in.

Kimbulu, instead of just having a small hole for the babies to suck through, make a tiny x in the nipple instead. Make sure it is small though- too big and the babies could drown if the formula fills their mouths too quickly. Another way is to contact a local vet and see if they carry wild animal nursers. These are longer nipples, sit snugger into the mouth of the kitten and are easier for the little ones to work with. Good luck
