I'm assuming that when a cat sticks her rear into the air it's to mate, right? Because Twix is doing this when my dog (Shaggy) tries to play with her. Shaggy and Twix have this game where they wrestle (they both love it). At different parts Shaggy takes Twix's head in his mouth. Now poor Shaggy is trying to play, but Twix want's to mate and is thinking that Shaggy is being the 'dominant male' when all he wants to do is play. Twix sticks her behind in the air and meows/coos/growls. Obviously she wants to mate so bad that she thinks that Shaggy is trying to mate with her. The only problem is that Shaggy is a dog. He's also a neutered dog. This is currently going on in our living room. Is there anything I can do to calm her down besides spaying? We're taking Shaggy and Twix in after our vacation (in March) to get shots and get Twix fixed. In the mean time, since I don't want kittens, should I keep Twix inside?

Is there no way you can get her fixed now? Otherwise she is going to be in heat at least once more and be desperate to get out and mate. You will have to keep her very securely inside, and there may be tomcats mewling all round your house and spraying to attract her. There will be a number of very miserable cats as a result! If there is any way to get her done now, I would do it.

I asked my dad (the un-cat-aholic) to get her spayed as my birthday present (Feb. 8). That would be the ultimate gift for me. Send me good luck vibes in hopes that I can get her fixed sooner rather than later!

If you don't want kittens, she has to stay inside. I'd confine her to a room far away from the front/back door - a cat in heat is a good escape artist!

Any news yet on your cat getting spayed? Hope he gets you the wish you want and she is spayed soon. It honestly saves money to have your pets fixed because having kittens costs alot of money. And so does taking care of cancer in a cat that gets it from not being spayed.
