In an earlier post I posted about my 13 week old kitten having tape worms, I am taking a sample to the vet tommorow and will pick up some medication, now my next question do these things migrate thru the house or continue to live where the kitten had slept or frequented? If so how can I get rid of them and kill any around? My wife never had pets I was raised with cats but none ever had worms so I myself am not familiar with how to clean up after a pet has had them, my wife read some stuff on line that didnt tell the entire stoy and is freaking out over this, she doesnt quite understand how cats are, she was adjusting well until this and cant understand this isnt as big of deal as it seems. He takes medicine and worms are gone I feel bad that as a kid she wasnt able to experience the joy of having pets. So if you could just shed some light on the questions in this post i will say thanks now.

You'll want to vacuum and wash whatever the kitty has been sleeping on. The little "rice" looking things as you refered to them as are segments and can infect whatever ingests them. As long as you and your wife use normal sanitation practices you really don't have to worry.
Children could be a problem though, as they don't always wash their hands.

Also, it's quite possible if the kitties you grew up with ever went outside or had fleas that they had worms and you never knew it.

Ah, maybe you live in cooler enviroment? Fleas and ticks are unfortunately thick here so my house kitty usually gets fleas and tapeworms at least once a year because we track stuff in on our shoes and pant legs.
