I was thinking about making some chili this week for colin and i. Does anyone have some good chili recipes? (I like mine without beans, and he likes his with them- so i will probably make two seperate batches or wait and add beans to only 1/2 of it.) I have never made chili before so any tips & recipes would be welcome! Thankyou!

Also, i'm looking for a recipe that isn't TOO overly spicy (a little is ok- but since i have reflux issues- i can't have too much spice
Also- i plan to use 90% lean ground beef to cook with- will that work?

I usually just open up a bunch of cans of beans, tomatoes, sauce and add whatever else I want to it.
I don't go by a recipe.Just kind of a little of this and a little of that kind of thing.
The family always eats it up, so it must be good.

I we are major chilli fans
but for a change and still hot , I do a chicken and 3 beans chilli.

just use chicken chunks instead of mince meat
and add 3 different type of beans !

Lovely & yummy with crusty bread and a ice cold white wine !

That is what I do too, and I use the envelopes of chili seasoning from Wal-Mart, it is not too spicy.

I could not do that, I wouldn't be able to eat it then, although my husband would love it.

I love mine hot, the kids and hubby can't handle it.
My GERD doesn't like it, but I do it once in awhile......not too many hot peppers, just enough.

I use the mild chili seasoning packets. It is just easier and taste good. I do put out chili peppers and hot sauce if people like it spicier.

I just love biscuits with lots of butter with chili. Mmmmmm Maybe I will make chili for the Superbowl.

I am like crittermom, I just keep adding stuff until it looks and tastes like chilli. I think this is close to what I usually do...

2 lbs of lean ground beef or ground turkey
2 big cans of crushed or stewed tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
3 large cans of kidney beans
1 large onion chopped
Add water to cover the above ingredients (I like mine soupy, hubby likes it thick, so I usually make it less soupy)
4 tablespoons of Grandma's Chilli Powder
1 tablespoon of hot sauce
1 tablespoon of salt
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of celery seed
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
