Hello Everyone!

I am a new to the site and a brand new cat owner. His name is Reginald and he is 9 months old. He is a short haired black and white who looks like he is wearing a tuxedo, hence the butler name.

I've had Reggie for 5 days now. I wish I could say things were going well. He seems terrified and incredibly lonely. And 2 nights straight has cried most of the night long. I know it is going to take some time, and I am ready to put in the time and engery. Though, the lack of sleep hasn't been helpful.

I love cats so much I actually work with big cats for my career. More specifically, Bengal Tigers. I am a zookeeper and animal trainer. It's funny, the make perfect sense to me, but Reggie has got me so very confused.

I'm looking forward to a long and happy life together with my little man. He might not be sure of me yet, but I am head over heels in love with him.

I hope to get alot of useful information from this site, and possibly even make some new friends.

Becca

Hi Becca! Welcome to TCS!

As for little Reggie- he's probably lonely right now- I went through the same thing with my 1st cat, Harley during his first few nights. I would definately have a little play session with him before you go to bed to tire him out, or give him a little food afterwards to help him sleep- afterall, I know I like to sleep on a fully tummy.

An another note, would it be possible for you to adopt another cat for friendship for Reggie? I found that after we adopted our 2nd cat (When Harley was 1.5 years old) it helped out a lot, and he wasn't as lonely anymore

Best of luck with your new little guy- you'll find a lot of information on this site, along with a lot of great new friends!

See you in the forums!

Welcome, Reginald and Becca,

to TheCatSite! Awwwwwwwwww, Reggie sounds SO handsome (perhaps you'll consider posting some pix of him here?
The Sticky's at the top of the page of posts tell all about it) and as you can see, tuxedos are pretty special here, too!

BabyHarley has given you the same advice I would, so I'm echoing it. And as you see, multicat families are BIG with us here.

Keep us all posted on Reggie's (and your) progress, okay? Hope you love it here as much as we do, and yes, you're bound to find a lot of friends on TCS!
Call us all kindred spirits, eh?

Hi there Becca
we're so happy to welcome you and Reggie to TCS. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay with us - we're one great big family and you'll find loads of friends here. If I can help at all while you're finding your way around TCS just click on my username and send me a Personal Message - I'll do what I can to answer your questions

This is still a new and very strange situation for Reggie - it will take him time to adapt. Take it gently and slowly. The tip for a playtime and extra snuggles before bedtime is an excellent one. Hopefully, he will soon adjust to you schedule and snuggle with you when it's time to go to sleep.

Hi Becca & Reggie!
I love that your cat has a "butler name"!
What a cool job you have!

I agree with the others about possibly finding Reggie someone to pal around with, if it is possible. They really are happier when they have a friend.
