Maggie, my cat drools whenever she's kneading or cuddling with me. She'll leave a bit spot on my shirt. Most of the time, however, she just slobbers all over me and my face! It's like having a dog! Is this normal? It's only when she's being petted and cuddled in the morning and at bedtime. What's up with this?

Oh yes..not all cats do it, but it happens. She is just relaxed and happy. I have a cat who does this all the time. Of course, when hubby scratches my back..I catch myself doing the same thing

My cat drools as well! I think it is so funny, she almsot catches herself and tries to hide the fact that she is drooling.

My Sateycat drools when he is happy too, but it seems like it's coming from his nose, not his mouth.

I thought that if a cat had discharge from the nose area there may be a problem. I will defer to someone else, as I am not an expert. Is the drool clear?

Yes, it's clear. Yes, my cat gets yearly checkups. No there's nothing worng with his health. It's been like this since he was a kitten (he's almost 9 now). It's sort of like when people cry, their nose runs clear since a tear duct connects to the nasal cavity. He may be drooling out of his mouth, but his nose gets all wet when he's happy so I've always figured it was his nose running. It's very strange.

We have a cat that drools a bit too when he gets loved on. Isn't that soooo cute? I think it's so funny - because like Heather said... it's like he catches himself doing it, and turns his head away real quick so we won't see!
I figured he'd been hanging out with the dogs too much and picking up some of their habits - evidently it IS a cat thing after all. What a relief! I'm sure that'll help restore his dignity somewhat. *chuckle*
