Regarding Amber, John and the baby

Like I said in an earlier post, please don't feel like you're gullible or that there is something wrong with you for caring. Please don't let it harden your hearts too much. I know it's human nature that once something like this happens, we all tend to not trust ANYONE. It's very easy to feel that way after being burned. In all of my years at TCS, this is the first time I recall such an incident as this. This is still by far THE BEST online community I have ever been a member of. Anyway, if you let these people, or this person, cause you to distrust everyone, then they have won. They will sit back and laugh at all the chaos they caused at TCS, they'll laugh at what they've done to people here. Please don't let them win. Personally, I don't think you can fully trust anyone, online or offline. However, I try not to harden myself to everyone. I'll give everyone the benefit of a doubt, and if they prove to be unworthy of my trust and faith in them, then I just forget about them. I would say, next time if something like this happens either here or elsewhere, be caring, and kind, but don't be so quick to offer the money and/or gifts. They might rob your emotions for a short time, but they won't be able to rob your pocketbook.

The members of TCS did not deserve this, but I know we can all rise above it.

I don't think Moz meant it that way, I think she meant that Tammy was probably extremely upset and staying away because this had been found out to be a hoax, we all know how emotionally involved Tammy was

I don't think Moz meant that as a blame. I think she meant that Tammy was so upset about this that she hasn't been online. I am so worried that this whole thing is going to tear us all apart. Please don't let this "Amber/John" do that to this wonderful community.

I agree. So who wants to talk about kittens? We should maybe move on to a happier topic that we all have in common.

I didn't know it was a hoax this whole time, I didn't mean that Tammy did either. I meant she probably has not been online recently because someone had told her of the suspicions.

Wow - I've been off all day because I've been at work and didn't see this before! I'm in shock - I can't believe that I'm so gullible! I fell for the whole story, hook line and sinker. Went onto the memorial site and made a post, sent John a rose in memory of Amber, and did a lot of crying over someone that may or may not have existed! I was prepared to donate to a trust fund for the baby or buy baby gifts! I feel like a sucker! Hubby keeps telling me not to believe ANYTHING I see on the internet - that it's all fake and that people aren't what they try to appear to be. I must be naive - I fell for it!

Ok... I was just making sure... Tammy is a total mess about this. I would just give her some time before she posts..

OK - so how do I make the rose I sent John invisible? Keep in mind that the darned thing went twice and locked me out for several hours over the weekend! I wasn't upset at the time, but now I'm steamed!

this is so wierd... I'm sorry to keep the thread going, but I've been away from this site for a while and am just hearing about this. I understand that CatlessGoatMan was a rather new member, but what about Amber? She'd been here a while, no? I take it sh hasn't posted since this supposedly happened?

I had a terrible thought, too - too terrible to post here. Brought on no doubt by experiences in my own life, that when someone disappears, my first thought isn't a very optimistic one.

Anyway, yeah.. this is just really strange :/

I'm sorry to perpetuate the thread too, but I just found it and am not quite ready to move on. Thanks to Anne, Alycia, and Nikki for going the extra mile.

Alycia - how do you suppose it is that you have an actual phone number for her? I wonder if it's sort of all half true and someone got in over their head. I must also admit for just a sneaking minute at the very beginning of the "Amber is Gone" thread, I thought, "she's having him make this up to see if anyone would miss her." But I thought that was a pretty sick thing to think.

Hope - thanks for the hope. And I must say that it actually makes me just love all the people here more than ever.

so supposedly he made her up? all this time? this is a bit of a mind-well, you know. I'd spoken to her a few times on the forum.. I was going to make a siggy for Bagheera for her. Her sadness at his death seemed geniune.. she never seemed like a "fake" person to me...

I guess we'll never know... it's just wierd

Well, I'm getting madder by the minute! To think that I really felt for John and the "baby"! I wonder who the pictures were really of! How long was Amber a member - I know that John I think was fairly new! And to think that when I posted in the memorial site, I was tempted to make the $50 donation to keep the site active forever, but rethought it and thought - I don't really know these people - let someone else that knows them do it! I'd like to retract my post there now! This whole thing sickens me!

I'm confused too, if it's a hoax, and she never died, and never had a baby.. it's too weird.

I think it's amazing that someone could carry on a hoax for months like that. That's why I was trying to formulate a situation where someone had to "end" their life because they had gotten in over their head. I always knew John was too good to be true, LOL.

I'm confused too, if it's a hoax, and she never died (or so people have said), and never had a baby.. it's too weird.

ETA: What if Amber really exists and John is someone she made up? This thing infuriates me. I wish whoever is responsible for this would just tell us the TRUTH!
