Arrgghhhhh!!!! She's getting general anaesthetic, so I've taken away all their food and water, so they're all going to be unhappy tomorrow morning.... So we're also going to have to shut the door to keep them out of the bedroom otherwise Stumpy will be in at stupid hours yowling to be fed!

I'm so worried for her, I have no idea what's going to happen or what to expect, and I'm so glad the little baby has no idea either! She's going to be so confused afterwards, her eyes are going to be sore, and she probably won't have very good vision.

This is how her eyes look now on a good day, so hopefully it will be better afterwards as it all heals!

I'm going to be a nervous wreck all tomorrow while waiting on news

So please - I need all your good vibes for tomorrow!!!

Sending my strongest vibes yours and little Smudge's way Sarah. Just remember that this doctor is a specialist and knows what they're doing and your baby is in good hands.

She's got a congenital defect in her eyes, so they're more "sunken in" than a regular cats eyes. This (I think) has caused trichiasis where the fur/eyelashes touches the eyeballs, so they rub her eyes and it's not very nice for her. She always squints, her eyes are really cloudy still, and she hates being touched near her eyes - apparently because it's most probably sore

So I think she's going to get that fur/eyelashes cryo-frozen off so it doesn't grow back. Hopefully that's all that's wrong

Good luck Smudge! Sarah, even if her sight is still poor after the op, she will be so much more comfortable once she's healed that it will be worth it. Sending you both loads of vibes, some 'uneventful surgery and heal quickly' ones for her, and some 'calm and not worrying too much' vibes for you.

So we kept the cats out of the bedroom last night so they wouldn't drive us mad all night begging for food and I felt like the biggest meanie.

As it turns out I didn't sleep anyway - I was tossing and turning all night and waking every hour or two - worrying about Smudge I guess!

We're leaving for the vets in 20 minutes. I'll let you know how that goes when I get to work.

Bless her sweet little self. She has been on my mind lately and I was just wondering the other day when her operation was scheduled.

My strongest good luck and healing vibes for sweet Smudge are definitely coming your way. She's such a sweet little thing.

I'll be waiting anxiously to hear how she is doing.

Ok, she's in. The vet seemed absolutely lovely, and was very reassuring. She remembered Smudge from her appointment a while ago and was amazed at how big she'd gotten

Poor little thing isnt a big fan of the car, and was mewing at me (she never makes a sound at home), but it was much better having her in a "proper" cat carrier rather than the cardboard carrier we got from the shelter. I could poke my fingers through the cage door and she was purring and rubbing her head against my fingers.

Thanks everyone for the vibes, I'll keep you updated!
