Picky, picky!

Dusty is a total PITA when it comes to food. I've posted before that she would only eat Fancy Feast, and then only certain flavors. I feed her canned twice a day, and let her free feed on dry. She liked Little Friskies, Ocean Fish dry.

So Sharky suggested I try a higher grade of dry, which I finally bought over the weekend. I got Nutro Max hairball formula in Roasted Chicken flavor. I figured she would turn up her nose at something new. Boy was I wrong! I mixed some of the Nutro with the Friskies, and guess what? She picked out all the Nutro and left the Friskies!

So this morning we give her the morning ratio of FF, and now she won't eat that! She only wants the dry Nutro! Go figure?

I also bought 1 can of Nutro kitten food wet, but she wouldn't eat that either.

I really want her to put on some weight. She only weighs 6.1 lbs. She's just a little bitty skinny thing under all her fur. I think she should weigh around 8 lbs.

Smart Cat!

How old is your Dusty? As soon as you figure out the trick to get her to gain weight, let me know. Jake is still in need of a couple pounds since he was so sick back in October. Good luck with it!

While you may think she's underweight, she might really not be! I took my Dorian to the vet as I thought he was underweight, only to be told that's his build! He looks like he isn't being fed, but that's normal & OK for him.

I'd look into Nutro's MAX cat Gourmet Classics cans as well as Nutro's canned food & Nutro's pouches. If she likes the dry that much, she might go for the canned! You can also try tons of high quality canned foods, I know I've spent about a zillion dollars trying canned food on my 5.

Is your cat related to my Baylee? Lol! Baylee and Jordan got addicted to Fancy Feast when our cat-sitter was in charge of them for a while but we only let them split a can every other night. And, just like your Dusty, Baylee will only eat certain flavors... such picky eaters!
