Lovely!! I can't wait to see pictures of the new arrival. I love the look of Orientals. Radar is part Cornish rex, right? He should do well with a mate. My cornies are very social with each other. They also love to cuddle together. I hope your two kits are the same.

Sonic spent most of the night curled up next to me in bed sleeping

I didn't do so well on the sleep front:

a) we left a light on as Sonic is very small and the colour of shadows and we were afraid of stepping on him if he went wandering in the night and I don't sleep well unless it's dark,

b) I kept having asthma attacks and my eyes went red and swelled shut
(Nate had his appointment with the asthma nurse at stupid o'clock this morning and she strongly hinted that we should get rid of the cats, yeah like that's going to happen)

c) Poor kitten would sporadically wake up and start crying, we should have got earplugs, oriental kitten crying is not like that of any other kitten!

He's now pulled one of my tops out and has curled himself up in it next to the radiator. He didn't just sleep up against me, he's a real little cuddler, rubbing against my arm and rolling over and purring. When you pet him he purrs so loud and really arches up into your hand. Radar is much more a 'not right now' kind of cat and only wants stroking when he comes to you for it!

I'm sure we will get some pictures up today

At the moment I feel like a new father- exhausted from lack of sleep

Got some major cuddles this morning

It's amazing, I've heard them before of course, but never lived with one. If you say anything at all to him you're rewarded with a lovely 'raaaaooww' in response.

He is now all stocked up on sleep, has had some wet lunch, given me purry purry cuddles, and is now in full explorer mode so I will go back and check up on him in a minute, if he's feeling bold we will open the door and let him explore a bit further afield.

Bedding exchange went well, Radar had a good sniff of Sonic's bedding from the carrier and then sat on it. No signs of hostility or even unease, so we have moved it into his bed for further scent exchange. Radar is being an absolute star about the whole thing so far.

Bad news though I'm afraid - the camera batteries have died
and need recharging, so it will be a bit of a longer wait for photos - sorry

I am going through all this right now with my new kitten Hope! Good luck and pm me if you need any advice. His meowing is going to be very different from Radar
They will be best friends!

I have Mica and Hope out together (supervised) and it has worked out well. At night Hopey goes into spare room until we feel that both Mica and Hope are ok with other. They are getting there! Its def easier introducing a kitten than fully grown cat (by my exprience anyway) but both can be done (not trying to talk anyone out of adopting an adult kitty--they are so wonderful).

Good luck!

It's so exciting having a new kitten around isn't it? It is funny though, Sonic looks so fragile compared to Radar at that age, he's a bit smaller than Radar was and I think is going to be a smaller cat than him when they are both full grown (Radar's not heavy but is very tall and lanky), but I think mostly it's due to those incredibly slender little legs, he looks so delicate and breakable

I want Sonic to explore the hallway and kitchen so he is familiar with a wider area before letting them meet face to face - he's curled up sleeping again at the moment

You know, I think Oriental kittens are so funny looking. When they grow up, they look much more "normal". To me, it amazing the changes they go through physically to go from that funny looking kitten to that normal looking adult.

Can't wait for Sonic pics!! Glad to hear Radar is receptive to the smell of his new "pupil".

Well I don't know about Sonic, but Tolly is deeply offended
he says he was always beautiful.

No, don't get me wrong, they're gorgeous cats. I've never seen one in person, so all I see is pics. Heck, I'm used to your basic "domestic" kitty. I just can't get over exactly how big their ears are as babies!! I always assumed that their bodies were proportional as kittens & then their ears grew(why I assumed that I dunno)....I never really looked much into Orientals until Epona & Nate told us they were getting one.....

Yes, Tolly is beautiful!
He looks so graceful....

Yes you really know your own cats, as it varies from one situation to another. Hopey is also so fragile looking and the first day we got her she spent the whole day sleeping or crying in the study where we had her (why I let her out in the end). I was worried she was ill until she started playing and erxploring with everything this morning, that's when I figured she was fine.

Can't wait for the pictures!

I once got into huge trouble on a parrot site when I described some hatchlings as cute little aliens. I meant it as a compliment, but the breeder got so upset with me, I didn't know where to put myself.
Beauty is different things to different people, I have my own biases since while I think Persians are cute and sweet, that look is not my cup of tea.

Tolly is very beautiful indeed. Sonic is also beautiful. Mind you he is by no means a perfect oriental, he was the one out of the litter that seemed to come out worst in terms of type lol. But don't tell him that (according to his breeder what he lacks in looks, he makes up for in personality, and to us that's what makes him perfect
)

He's slept a fair bit today, I'm putting it down to suddenly being away from his mum and siblings and finding himself in strange surroundings. He is pooing, peeing, and eating fine. I fell asleep on the sofa earlier (we're all knackered today!) with Radar and when I woke up Nate wasn't in the room - so I checked the bedroom and he was asleep with little Sonic curled up on his arm and nestling into his beard

Batteries still recharging, they seem to take forever

He sounds adorable
It sounds like Radar can't wait to meet his new buddy
When I got Mosi I did the separate rooms, exchanging scents thing then decided to introduce them just to see how they both reacted - about 6 hours after I got him home! They were fine and I never separated them again. Jaffa just took it all in his stride, bless him.

They just met, we let them both into the hallway and they sniffed at each other for five minutes (Sonic being aggressive and hissing at Radar- clearly quite scared). They both started play-fighting and then we eventually seperated them as Radar was pouncing from a distance...
tbh I think Radar was well behaved considering he is three times the size but it looks like it will be awhile before we can leave them alone together

I know it stinks that they canont be together for awhile, but don't worry! In no time Radar will have taught Sonic all his "tricks" & you'll be regretting the day you decided to get another kitty!

It was quite scary watching Radar pounce on the little fellow and bowl him over in a scrabble of waving paws and wailing.

Radar was interested and initially friendly, while Sonic was clearly terrified! Then Sonic calmed down and let Radar sniff him without hissing (big hisses coming from such a tiny kitty!) and once that had happened Radar was most definitely insistent on showing the new guy who is boss, pinning him down and batting him.

If there hadn't been such a size difference, or if Radar hadn't started pouncing from a distance and bowling Sonic over, I would have let them get on with it, but Sonic is so tiny that it was a bit worrying.
